The world is currently being plagued by the spreading pandemic of the new type of coronavirus, which has also hit the world of sports hard. In football and hockey, we have seen the suspension of several leagues, and Formula 1 has been forced to postpone some races. For this reason, we will not see the announced Monaco Grand Prix this year, for the first time since 1954. Due to the current situation, Formula 1 today introduced a new e-sports league, which is called the Virtual Grand Prix, and we will even see several classic Formula 1 drivers in it.

All races in the Virtual Grand Prix series will be held at the classic times in which the original race would otherwise have been held. So we will see the first presentation of this league this Sunday. The Bahrain Grand Prix is taking place on this date and we will see a number of current drivers competing against selected stars, who will be introduced in time. In order to avoid a security breach and to prevent individual players from being exposed to direct contact with others, all races will take place remotely. The entire race will of course be broadcast live, on Sunday at 22 p.m. from the Gfinity Esport Arena. You probably had only one thing in mind right away. What will the players actually play on? The entire Virtual Grand Prix series will take place in the F1 2019 game , but only half of the 28-lap race will be held.
The entire Sunday event should take about 90 minutes in total, which includes qualification, classification and finally the race itself. But so that some avid players are not at an advantage, one default setting will be set for all participants. For this reason, all drivers will have the same powerful cars, reduced formula damage and a number of other features will be set.
Of course, the entire series will take place only for the pleasure of the spectators, who are currently completely deprived of classic Formula 1. The management of F1 itself is aware of this fact, which claims that it is more of a show and the results will of course not affect the world championship in any way.
