Last night we saw the release of the first beta versions of new operating systems iOS 13.4, iPadOS 13.4, tvOS 13.4, watchOS 6.2 and macOS 10.15.4. Although they were expected to primarily contain bug fixes, subsequent testing showed that they are quite full of new features. So let's take a look at the 8 main new features that 1. beta iOS 13.4 and its offshoot iPadOS 13.4.

  • Redesigned Toolbar in Mail – Currently, the Toolbar in email is designed so that the reply and delete icons are very close to each other, which is not very convenient for some users. iOS 13.4 will completely overhaul the Toolbar, adding options for marking and quick access to folders, making working with Mail more efficient.
  • Sharing folders via iCloud – Last year's WWDC Apple promised that in the new OS it will be possible to share file folders via iCloudHowever, it seems that it was quite difficult for him to reliably create this new feature, and therefore he will only deploy it in iOS 13.4 and other new OS. Folders will be able to work similarly to Google Drive, for example.
  • New Memoji Stickers – If you like Memoji Stickers, iOS 13.4 will delight you with nine new ones. They are based on emojis added to iOS 13 and you will find among them a face with hearts, a celebrating face, a begging face and others.
  • Unified payments for apps – With the arrival of new systems, developers will be given the option to set the same paid apps available on multiple platforms so that a single purchase unlocks them everywhere. Currently, it is necessary to pay for the application separately on each platform. You can find more information here.
  • CarKey API – For iPhones with iOS 13.4 will be able to upload contactless car keys and use them natively for unlocking and starting the car. More information can be found here here.
  • Location services – New iOS should fix the problems some apps have with pop-up requests for location permissions. These permissions should be slightly redesigned, but it's not entirely clear from the beta notes how.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts on iPad – iPads with iPadOS 13.4 will start supporting new keyboard shortcuts in the Photos app to make it easier to use.
  • iPad hardware keyboard remapping – The option to remap the hardware keyboard of the iPad will be added to the iPadOS settings, which will make this accessory even more useful for many Apple users.

When exactly will it be? iOS 13.4 will be made available to the public is still unclear. Given that the beta Apple he usually tests for about a month and a half to two months, theoretically we could wait until the middle of March or at the end of it. However, he could make it clearer in this direction in the near future Apple, which usually announces the release dates of major updates lately.
