I admit that when Apple last Monday on Keynote WWDC19, while introducing the news, said that his tvOS 13, iOS 13 and iPadOS will now support Xbox game controllers One and PlayStation 4, put a smile on my face. Although I'm not a hardcore gamer, I do occasionally play with my iPad or iPhoneI like to sit down somewhere quiet and play a game. Sure, mobile games are still barely on par with console games, but there are still titles among them that really entertain you. And these could be given a new dimension thanks to the ability to play them via a game controller.

Since I am an Xbox fan, I connected the controller to my iPad and later to my iPhone. Pairing is very fast and, most importantly, easy. All you need to do is turn on Bluetooth on your iPhone or iPad and press the pairing button on the Xbox or PlayStation controller that is turned on. You will know that the pairing process is underway on the Xbox controller when the round power button starts flashing quickly. As soon as the controller, which appears in the Bluetooth profiles in the iOS, you connect it, the flashing will change to classic lighting. The Bluetooth profile of this controller will of course remain in the iPhone or iPad, thanks to which all further connections of the controller to it are much faster. They connect, for example, as wireless speakers or Bluetooth headphones. However, since the systems are still in beta, from time to time you may encounter a connection problem, although in my case it is definitely not a frequent one.
Don't look for perfection
Unfortunately, you haven't completely won even after you manage to pair the controllers with iPhonem or iPad. I tried quite a few games, including Alto's Adventure, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, LIMBO, Shadowgun Legends, Starman and Monument Valley 2, and I got some interesting results. Some games are already playable with gamepads more than well, others need a few adjustments from the developers to improve gameplay on a game controller, and many of them, of course, do not support the controller at all, and it is difficult to say whether they will ever be supported.
I probably played LIMBO the best, which really suits the controller and makes the game great to play on. iPhoneand iPads (although I previously completed it in the classic mode with on-screen controls). However, this is not the case given that the game was also released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PlayStation, thanks to which some of its elements are de facto designed for controllers, it is not surprising. The legendary GTA does not play badly with a gamepad either, although a few adjustments that would bring the controls closer to the console version would definitely not hurt here. After a while of training, however, your hands on the gamepad will work exactly as the game requires. It is with GTA that I probably see the greatest benefit of this new feature, since its controllability on the display was not twice as pink. Shadowgun Legends is even worse, which I found to be quite unsuitable for the Xbox controller. The controls were, to put it simply, clumsy and generally unintuitive. However, the developers cannot be blamed for this yet, given that support only arrived a week ago. In the case of Starman and Monument Valley 2, you would then look in vain for the option of controlling via a controller, but this may of course change in the future. This type of game can also be controlled with a controller on consoles, and I do not see the only reason why support would not arrive here.

Although it may seem that I am rather disappointed with the control of games with the Xbox controller, this is not entirely true. Although many games do not yet fully understand it, it is already possible to say that the gaming experience has been moved in a rather interesting direction. As soon as game developers manage to adapt their games to the controllers, ideally uniformly - that is, so that we are used to one control in all games or minialmost the same type of title -, I believe that gaming on iOS will experience a minor revolution. This could be reflected in the arrival of a much larger number of console titles on iPhones. For a long time, there have been rumors about a port of GTA IV or even GTA V, which would suit the displays of Apple devices. I dare say that if Rockstar was considering releasing these games, with the arrival of iOS 13 and iPadOS have the most ideal opportunity to implement their plan. So I give myself Applu definitely thumbs up.
Is it possible to try Guns of Boom or pubg?
I think that PUBG doesn't support playing via gamepad, I read that it only works perfectly after jailbreak, but who wants to fuck with that... but let them express themselves, maybe there was already some update that modifies the game via gamepad
I don't know what everyone has with Xbox and Applem… Just an Xbox there,iPhone here…
Apologizing to the developers for only having it for a week is absolute nonsense. It has been known since the day these drivers were supported. WWDC and all developers probably have versions iOS in advance. It's more obvious here that everyone doesn't care. So I won't buy a controller just yet because of the handful of games, even though some games only work with a controller on ATV, e.g. Ocean horn 2.
Man your style is terrible, repeat the basics
