With a certain degree of exaggeration, it could be said that every Czech fan Applu sometimes complained about the constant increase in iPhone prices. And actually, there's nothing surprising about it. Phones from Applu are indeed becoming more and more expensive on the domestic market, only between 2015 and 2017 their price stopped, or rather decreased slightly. However, many justify the higher prices by increasing wages. However, the question remains whether the growth of these two values is really directly proportional, and for clarification we decided to compile the table below.

The amount he wants Apple for its phone from Czech customers, has grown since the very first model available in our country (iPhone 3G) almost every year. In the United States, the price of the basic model has increased only three times in total, each time by $50 – with the introduction of the iPhone 4S, iPhone 8 and iPhone XR. There are several reasons for the increase in Czech prices. These include inflation, the unfavorable exchange rate of the koruna against the dollar, the strengthening economy of our country and, along with it, the growth of the average and minilow wages.
The design of iPhones has changed almost as drastically in the past 11 years as their prices:
But the last two values mentioned did not grow directly proportionally to the prices of iPhones. Basic iPhone The XR is almost twice as expensive as the basic iPhone 3G, but minimonthly salary between 2008 and 2018, it did not even double, let alone the average wage. Moreover, it is highly debatable whether the cut iPhone The XR was supposed to be considered the flagship model, which it was eleven years ago. iPhone 3G.
So the table below reveals a lot and you can get an idea of how the prices of iPhones in our market have changed in recent years. We have deliberately listed the basic capacities in order to make the table clear. All entry flagship models that are directly comparable are then highlighted in bold.

for steav it was much better today it's overpriced exactly what steav didn't want... then they wonder they don't have sales
They have no sales - 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
if apple it has no sales, so in that case the whole world would have gone bankrupt long ago.
It would be good to add to the table the exchange rate of the dollar that was valid at the time.
Completed
Add to the price of a specific product over time miniThe minimum wage, or the average wage, is an anti-economic perversion.
If you compare the prices of those products and the price of memory on the market (the one being compared).
You are not only an arrogant ignoramus, but also an economic illiterate. I am sorry for you. Instead of letting yourself be taught and thanking you, you make a fool of yourself. Well, we are all different.
To JaJa: I also bought a mobile phone with money. ProDo you want to give a determinant of the value of memory? What interests me is that I could buy my first mobile phone for half the average wage, while the current one iPhone for the entire average wage.
@TyTy: because the average wage is Irisheventto the price of the product and the market price. For example, the price of cars has not increased by 100% like with the iPhone. Likewise with a roll, TV, etc. ProHow to compare memory prices? Probecause it is very important for the choice of mobile phone itself and the price of memory was very important at that time also for the comparison of capacities. Today the price of 64GB of memory will certainly be lower than it used to be for 8GB. If something should be compared then, the price in USD, the price in EUR, the price CZK including exchange rates and the estimated margin, or rather the price of components, as it is always done. That is the only relevant indicator. Then we all find out that today the margin is almost at the price of the first iPhones (value, not %).
@RZ: just show your arroganceancand the absolute absence of self-reflection. I now understand why so many people and discussion forums have you on their blacklist. I feel sorry for you. A fool will remain a fool until he admits that he really is a fool. That's your problem.
Comparison of dull wit
So it needs to be said that Apple they don't set prices based on average wages in a given country. So justifying higher prices by saying that wages are (also) higher is bullshit. I would also point out the technologies that are in XS and that were in iPhone10 years ago. It's a much more expensive machine to manufacture than the 3G.
Are iPhones expensive? Of course they are. BUT 1) other manufacturers are not really much cheaper with their TOP models (see the upcoming S10). 2) price is relative. 1000 euros is something different for a Czech than for most of Europe (I'm not even talking about the US). 3) would you sell your products for only 120% of the production price, probably not :-) It's a business that Applu is still working. No, it's not really in the red and it really has sales and huge profits :-)
I thought there was no need to say it and it happens to everyone. In the article, I do not claim that the prices of iPhones are formed according to wages. And I no longer justify higher prices by the fact that wages have also increased.
In the discussion under the previous article on the topic of iPhone prices, many commenters called on us to add then and current wages to the prices. And when we did it, everyone complained that it wasn't a relevant comparison...
Mr. Pražák, you misunderstood me, I did not address the comment to you or LSA, but rather to other readers who are constantly asking how it is Apple overpriced scum :-)
On wage pricing, I responded to those who argue this way (after all, you mentioned that it's not from your head)
Petr S: Well, I'm sorry, in that case consider my answer irrelevant.
Year after year, more uneaten.
here you have a complete overview. Apparently the editor used my data.
https://webshare.cz/group/2n41k567i3/
Yes, less than 2/5 of the data comes from your spreadsheet, which you sent me with the words "Feel free to use it". Of course, thank you for the data.
yo i'm glad it was used.
Hell, if we want to have higher wages, we need to spend more 🤷🏼♂️
Well, if I compare the first price of the iPhone in dollars and let's say today's base ie 599 vs 749 and the difference in CZK and the exchange rate of those 150 different dollars comes out to 70,5 CZK/USD. Decent. At the same time, the dollar constantly oscillates between 20-28 CZK, which is not so much.
It seems to me that it makes us Apple even bigger idiots than the Americans (which he always did at the rate of 1 USD = 1 EURo).
Comparing 3G or GS from back then and today maximum is not even possible anymore (I mean in terms of price, technologically they were not that behind the competition back then, quite the opposite). The production price is still a few bucks today as it was back then. A decent margin is stated by traders as 20-30%.
The last price with the production price is nonsense. Production price of 3GS about $180, production price of X about $420. So 2 times like that. And I'm not talking about the fact that the costs of development as such, promotion, etc. they are of course also much higher today than 7-8 years ago.
*Last sentence
I honestly don't believe that it costs anything to produce. iPhone to ours over 5 thousand, although I could admit the almost 9.
ProThey don't have to do the promotion today, after all these years it's a well-established product and the iOvce don't need convincing. And development too. Back then they were developing new things, today they are copying from the competition. They had to make money on the first iPhones with music and computers, today they have enough money to give away iPhones for free with a bag of candy for a few years.
Which means I don't deny that their pricing policy works and I have no reason (yet) to change it.
Of course, we will never know the exact production costs, it is simply an analysis of the components, but I would believe those amounts. Nevertheless, the development of processors or perhaps FaceID costs a lot of effort and money, while perhaps FaceID is revolutionary for me and no one else has yet come up with an equally reliable and accurate method (although they are trying) - I can't imagine a phone without it, but I understand that it is person to person and someone may not like it. So according to me Apple is still innovative (FaceID, AirPods, TouchBar and T2 chip on Macbooku Pro), but that's purely my opinion and I understand that many people will not agree with it...
The prices are cool, I personally see the ceiling for top models at 2500 USD, in fact max $3000. It just takes a little patience.
2010 iPhone 4 (16GB), 14 CZK, 490 USD, RATE 599 CZK
2011 Death of Steve Jobs
2014 iPhone 6 (16GB) 18 390 CZK, 649 USD, RATE 21,447 CZK
(January 2015 apple increased the price of 16GB to 21390 CZK "supposedly" due to exchange rate compensation lol)
2017 iPhone 8 (64GB) 20 990 CZK, 699 USD, RATE 21,87 CZK
I deliberately chose years when the dollar exchange rate was about the same so that some people wouldn't be confused and it's nice to see how apple It started to slowly screw Europe after Jobs' death, all the mentioned iPhone models cost roughly the same in the US, a 50USD (approx. 1000 CZK) increase for each mentioned model, so that was a 100USD increase over a 7-year period, so about 2000 CZK. In Europe? An increase of 6500 CZK, because they found out that people here would simply pay for it, I still remember the crap after January 2015 when they increased the prices of the iPhone 6 by three thousand across the board due to the strengthening dollar, so that when the dollar "soon" returns to normal, they will lower the prices again. The dollar will fall and what did they do? Except shit, they left the prices the same, I still remember the mockery as it was iPhone The 5S after the release of the 6S costs more money than when it was introduced two years earlier.
But we continue to take it easy, they want people on their heads and they don't even bother pretending it's rain anymore. Not having the opportunity to buy their products for less at work apple I've been coughing for a long time, because this is simply the highest level of gluttony. With the prices of the new iPad and Mac, but MAINLY THE PRICE OF HIGHER CAPACITIES like sorry but five liters for ONE level of capacity is a waste, a new example iPad Pro 64GB 22990,- vs 1TB 45490,- as a serious double the price of the product just because of the larger memory chip, which apple cost max five thousand? Seriously, I strongly think my current phone will be the last one from them (iPhone (256gb).
with that exchange rate, I noticed it a long time ago, our prices rose when the dollar rose even when it fell, I always buy basic capacity because Apple artificially increases the price by €100 for higher memory,
today when others offer a 128 GB base, payments via NFC and fast charging 3rd generation, so Apple it still offers 64 GB for 1149-1179€ for the XS, and in addition, it has stopped including a reduction in the package, it still includes a slow charger and 7-year-old headphones, I'm in the same situation as you, if I didn't have a good price from the company in the past, I would he stuck to it a long time ago
iPad price Pro 11 showed me that I won't go to the iPad anymore, I just don't want to pay €1000+ for 256GB, it's ridiculous
In other words, in 7 years, according to what you wrote, the price has increased by 6500 CZK, i.e. by approx. 928 CZK per year. Does it sound like a liquidation and unjustified price increase? In my opinion, no, just look at how much the internals of the iP4 and how much the iP8 cost.
So, in my opinion, when it is broken down in this way, it can be seen that it is not so drastic. But I understand, there will always be someone complaining in the world, and why would they Apple did he change the pricing policy when it works? (yes it works, sales fall but profit remains). So if I'm going to sell even a stupid toothbrush for 10,- and people will buy it, I'm not going to discount it just to silence those who don't like the price :)...
I don't mind a price increase of a few thousand once or twice a year if it's in line with the overall market, but not in the US.chat practically the same price but in Europe constantly increasing it because of "specific market", purchasing power, dollar exchange rate or 2 years warranty and similar crap. I don't like that we subsidize the Americans' price and technologies from which only they can benefit, if you like it then please do your thing, but don't act like it's completely fine here. Exactly as someone already noted here, car companies don't go crazy every six months when the dollar moves a little and immediately change prices so why apple? And if, after the exchange rate stabilizes, the prices can be at least slightly returned to their original value? No, let's let them pay the same money, let's shoot even more than planned. You claim here, like many other posers, that if it sells, why wouldn't they keep increasing it. That's the problem apple was founded and even Jobs supported this idea until the last moment, that he wanted to make amazing products for normal people and earn something from it. To take advantage of the fact that it was one of the richest companies and to do something for people and still have a reasonable margin on the products so that everyone is satisfied, not just to be another cold-blooded corporation that only looks at profit. That's the attitude you have apple got a huge amount of fans, not this greedy money machine that pushes the margin beyond the limit of carrying capacity (as it turned out this year) and the customers are deep in its ass. Gluttony nothing more.
I understand and respect what you write, but it's all a bit debatable. So, of course, there is no need to add anything to the fact that it is much cheaper for Amíky and that they have many more services at their disposal - that is the absolute truth and it would be difficult to defend it in any way.
On the other hand, the number of fans you write about Apple The approach he had under Jobs won't save the brand. At the time, there may have been a vision and it was according to Jobs, but they didn't become a really big company with sales until a few years later. At the beginning, there were only the die-hard fans and they really wouldn't make a living today. Today, not only iPhone I like it a lot, but what are we going to lie to ourselves? The 3G and 3GS weren't great phones, they were crazy to me, and Lumias with Win were much more usable back then. At that time, it was Apple rather a cult. That's my opinion. But I agree that current prices should be the ceiling.
And the dollar exchange rate in 2010 that you mention is a lie. The average price for 2010 is $19, with the highest rate being 21,119, and that only happened once in the summer for a while.
Of course according to the months, the daily rate is nonsense.
January 18.3130
February 18.9810
March 18.8220
April 18.8730
May 20.4350
June 21.1190, XNUMX
July 19.7890
August 19.2430
September 18.9010
October 17.6420
November 18.0330
December 19.0280
ProGod, if the dollar fluctuated by 25-30 CZK during the year (i.e. the range of 18-45 CZK), I would understand the price changes due to the dollar exchange rate. But 2-3 CZK has no effect.
We were flying here. Euro between 22 - 35 CZK and car companies didn't go crazy about it either and car prices are falling rather than suddenly tripling.
So $3 on the dollar is 3000 on an iPhone, that's 10%, right... Again, that's not a lot. But rather, I would like to point out that the price increase of approx. 1000 per year, according to the original comment, is not particularly high in my opinion.
The Americans were already screwing us over before the death of Steve Jobs, the only difference is that what they are doing today is already outrageous.
That it can be done even without bullshit, you just need to compare the prices in Singapore and here. A small country, technologically advanced, with a higher standard of living and what are the prices there and what are they here.
Proč Apple will not allow the use of memory cards as competition? Oh man, it's getting hotter!
I can only see that it exceeded the average wage. I have something and I have to admit that it is quite a good jump compared to the previous advice, however, I am sorry about the price here in America (I understand that they have it as part of the support of the country that produces it) but the difference is quite large
Even the prices of the basic models are overpriced, even considering today's strong competition. This could perhaps be justified by the higher productivity and experience thanks to iOS, even though it has Apple what to catch up on
But indefensible are the absolutely senseless and even absurd amounts for ordinary RAM or SSD, where Apple in principle, it can no longer give customers any added value. Quite the opposite – thanks to astronomical prices for higher memory, many customers buy only the basics and then struggle with memory shortages over time, resulting in lower productivity and experience.
So only a spoiled brat buys something as useless as a mobile phone for 30 thousand :D or borrows it from a thief who then eats it :D
