Yesterday we brought you a comparison of the front cameras of the latest iPhone XS and the 2015 model, the iPhone 6s. We praised the lighting quality and low noise of this year's flagship, but the face of the lady who was the subject of this test is visibly smoothed and looks as if she always applied make-up to her skin before taking a photo. Around the same time, more and more conspiracy theories began to appear on the Internet from owners of the latest XS, who claim that the selfie camera contains a kind of "beauty filter", as they refer to the strange behavior of the camera.

According to them, the "Beauty filter" is probably always activated when taking photos with the front camera and is supposed to help with the best possible final photo. However, the effect is too high and the people in the photos look rather unnatural. Especially for men, the result is very strange. The "Beauty filter" smoothes the skin and the person then looks as if they were wearing make-up. You can look at specific examples in the gallery and judge for yourself whether the photos from this year's iPhone are prettier than those from older models. In our opinion, in the vast majority of cases, no.

The unnatural result is also helped by the more pinkish skin of each photographed person. Apple in short, he apparently tried to improve the so popular selfies that he overdid it with his efforts. However, other improvements to the camera are praised by most people – less noise or better background blurring, which can also be adjusted afterwards, are a really noticeable upgrade from last year's iPhone X. It will be interesting to see if the whole case Apple will express. However, since it is most likely only a software element, which all tests indicate, it should not be a problem to remove it through a software update.
