The Reuters agency came up with a report, according to which it is Apple ordered to pay a large sum for infringement of two patents. They belong to the Canadian company WiLan, which will receive over 145 million dollars in damages. WiLan deals in intellectual property and describes itself as one of the most successful patent companies in the world. Specific patents which Apple violated relate to the wireless technologies in the iPhone.

One patent relates to bandwidth control in a wireless network, while the other deals with adaptive call access control over wireless communication systems. The decision on their violation was issued by the California federal court and Apple has not commented on the situation yet.

Interestingly, this is not the first time they have faced each other Apple and WiLan appeared in court. It happened already in October 2013, when he had Apple to infringe a patent relating to wireless technologies as well. At that time, however, the apple company won the sport. WiLan's profits are apparently generated precisely by winning similar lawsuits. Just in 2013, the company was in dire financial straits and trying to get out of it with similar patent infringement lawsuits.

The infringement of two patents concerns wireless technologies in iPhonech.

Apple and patent disputes, that is a chapter in itself. Very often, however, it is simply an attempt by other companies to gain visibility or become rich. For example, a few days ago we learned, that the company SpeakWare s Applem sues for infringement of voice control patents. He usually comes out of such court battles Apple as a winner, but we also recorded cases where he had toonec actually pay for lost profits. And the same is true in this dispute with WiLan.
