If issued by the company Apple your vehicle, it could completely change the way you look at driving. Similar to how iPhone has changed the way we look at mobile phones. The US Patent Office has published a patent that was filed in March of this year. The patent describes how a car can navigate its environment based on a number of factors it senses.

A sensor device located on the front of the car's cabin could allegedly monitor the body and physical activity of the people in the car. This technology should include light detection devices, depth cameras and infrared sensors. Everything should be used to detect eye movements, gestures, body postures, sweat, head position, etc. The collected data can be used to set the correct "Comfort Profile".

This is what one of the interior concepts of an autonomous vehicle looks like:

The comfort profile will determine the way in which the vehicle is to be driven and the system can subsequently change a number of settings in a way that will be most comfortable for the passenger. This is, for example, engine speed, car speed or crossing into other lanes. As the system collects passenger data in real time, the driving profile can be changed at any time. For example, if the system detects stress in the passenger, it will set the drive to a slower mode and try to remove this stress.

Graphic representation of the mentioned patent:

The description of the technology is certainly interesting. The question is whether this patent will ever be used in the future. Company Apple regularly submits many applications for various patents to the patent office. But most of them will never be used. Only time will tell if we will see a similar autonomous navigation system in the future.
