Apple announced in January that it plans to expand its presence in the United States by opening another campus. “The company plans to build a campus at the new location, initially providing technical support to customers. We will announce the location of the new facility later this year.”

Since then, there has been a lot of speculation about where the Cupertino company's campus could be located. Bloomberg, which works with data from Moody's Analytics, has come up with a short list of cities suitable for the California giant's campus. One possibility is the state of North Carolina, home to one of the oldest and largest science parks, Research Triangle Park (RTP). According to the Triangle Business Journal, North Carolina is a hot candidate. “Multiple sources claim that the tech giant Apple will build a new campus in Research Triangle Park.”

This is what it looks like inside its main building in Apple Park:

Research Triangle Park gets its name from the fact that three major research universities are located nearby, forming an imaginary triangle: Duke University, NC State University, and the University of North Carolina. The science park, located on the East Coast of the United States, covers an area of 28,3 square kilometers and is home to more than 170 companies.

Research Triangle Park is owned by the non-profit Research Triangle Foundation. The area is constantly expanding its space to accommodate more companies and scientific talent. Apple missing here for now, but maybe not for long.
