Elon Musk, the founder and current CEO of the car company Tesla, is often perceived by the general public as the successor to Steve Jobs. He is also a visionary who continues to amaze the public with his cars and is one of the few who sets the direction. This week Tesla introduced two new products. One of them is the next generation Tesla Roadster, which for now becomes the fastest mass-produced car in the world and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a respectable 1,9 seconds. The second novelty is the long-awaited Tesla Semi electric truck.

Not even Tesla can control leaks, so it was assumed for some time that the automaker was preparing its first tractor. However, all analytical assumptions rather underestimated the novelty. The Tesla Semi is powered by 4 independent motors located in the rear axle. They are able to get the truck from 0 to 100 km/h in an incredible 5 seconds. In the case of a full load with a trailer, it reaches the same speed in about 20 seconds.

In the case of cars powered by pure electric energy, the target of attacks and comments is their battery life and therefore maxThe Tesla Semi will be available in two variaThe first promises a range of up to 400 miles, which is just under 650 kilometers. In the case of a more expensive version with a better battery, the driver will be able to travel up to an incredible 500 miles, or more than 800 kilometers. In addition, the new powertrain technology promises a range of 400 kilometers with a charge of only 30 minutes.

During the presentation, eyes were naturally drawn to the overall design of the truck – in a word, it is timeless. Elon Musk focused mainly on aerodynamics, whose drag coefficient is even lower than that of some sports cars. The Semi doesn't have to be ashamed of its interior either. It offers a classic Tesla miniThe minimalist design we know from the current models offered by the automaker. Inside the cabin, there is a seat placed in the best possible position for observing the surroundings, two displays next to the steering wheel that replace the rearview mirrors and monitor, for example, blind spots and several other gadgets. The cabin is also high enough for the driver to stand up.

Unfortunately, the purchase price was not mentioned at the conference, but there was a comparison of the price costs with diesel trucks. According to the chart, the cost of current trucks is approximately $1,51 per mile driven. However, the Tesla Semi boasts a completely different number, up to $0,85 per mile. The automaker plans to start producing the truck in 2019, and the reservation fee is currently more than 100 crowns.
