Prominent analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities focused primarily on in his latest report: iPhone X, specifically its supply chain and the problems associated with its production. He also revealed what it could look like with iPhonem X in the following year, when the much-anticipated supercycle generating huge sales will be launched.
Ming-Chi Kuo says that the real supercycle of the premium model will not start until 2018, although many other analysts predict that it will start as early as late 2017. However, according to the analyst, the supercycle will be pushed back to next year due to inventory shortages. As we reported last month, the main bottleneck in the production of the iPhone X and the main cause of the inventory shortage is the TrueDepth camera, as its sensor consists of several different systems and has a much more complex structure than the competition.
Furthermore, the analyst emphasizes in his report that iPhones introduced next year will have a longer sales period than this year's. iPhone X, especially because the Cupertino company will improve the manufacturing process next year, and therefore the availability of flagships. Ming-Chi Kuo thinks that 2018 iPhone X will be available immediately after the launch and that there will be no more production problems like the current generation.
Kuo also hinted that 2017 million to 210 million iPhones will be sold in 220 and that sales will increase to 2018 million to 245 million in 255.
Regarding the iPhone 8, the analyst says that supply chain sentiment is more conservative, but that it will sell poorly in 2018 because it will be overshadowed by iPhone X. But on the contrary, he thinks the iPhone 8 Plus is selling better than originally expected.
In conclusion, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple company will have a better understanding of the production process with the models revealed in 2018.
