Mafia 3 will be released on Mac tomorrow. The release will be handled by developers from the Aspyr studio, who specialize in porting games from Windows on macOS or Linux. The good news is that this isn't the only big game to look at the Apple system recently. F1 2016 racing game was recently released on macOS and you can read about it here review.

The Mafia game series is originally Czech. The first Mafia was developed by studio Illusion Softworks, which was subsequently bought by publisher 2K and renamed 2K Czech. 2K Czech later created a sequel – Mafia 2. Mafia 3 was already in the works studio Hangar 13. Set in 1968 and the fictional city of New Bordeaux, inspired by New Orleans, the game puts the player in the shoes of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam War hero, and embarks on a bloody journey of revenge.

The game was released on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One in the fall of last year. Now it will also be available for macOS, on Steam or in Mac App A hundred for $40 (in Europe it will probably be 40 euro). The game will use Metal technology.

Only AMD graphics cards (at least 2GB VRAM) are supported. Intel and NVidia are not supported. I wonder how many users will play the game and in what quality? It has graphics like 5 years ago and yet I had dips below 60 fps even on my gtx 1080tc?. The optimization is seriously terrible.
