JBL wireless speaker Flip is a term. This is the most iconic product from the JBL range and its popularity is evidenced by the fact that JBL innovates it very often. Changes come almost every year and in today's review we will look at the fourth iteration of the popular speaker. This is the third version that we review here on the website. You can read the test of the first generation from 2013 here, we then put last year's model to the test hereToday we have hot news in the form of generation number 4. JBL Flip 4 won the Innovation Award at this year's CES, so let's take a look at how the new version is doing and what's changed since the last one.

Focus and specifications

The focus of the product has been absolutely clear for four years. JBL targets everyone who wants to have a source of quality sound with them at all times. Whether you are going on a trip to the mountains, on the water, or to the sea, JBL Flip 4 will make you a very capable companion. Flip has several attributes that help it do this. The sound is provided by two 40mm drivery with exonem 8W RMS. It offers a frequency range of 70Hz-20kHz and a sensitivity of 80dB. The device is powered by a 3000mAh battery, thanks to which the new Flip 4 should last up to 12 hours of playback, a good two hours more than last year's model. Charging should take about three and a half hours. Flip 4 also includes a built-in microphone for making calls from a connected phone, supports collaboration with Siri, offers compatibility with the JBL Connect+ service (a feature that allows up to a hundred speakers to be connected simultaneously to amplify sound production) and the JBL Connect app, and last but not least, it meets IPx7 certification, so you don't have to worry about submerging it. Flip 4 into the water – another useful change for the better since last year. That's all for the official parameters, now let's see how the new JBL Flip 4 actually looks like.

Packing

The packaging is very well done, once again we learn everything important about what we are holding in our hands. All the main functions and features are thoroughly described on the box and no information is missing here. After opening the box, a small box with instructions and other documentation awaits you. Behind it is the device itself. Flip 4, which is carefully stored in a padded space so that it is not damaged during handling. Right next to it is the orange USB power cable. Flip we have it out there, so let's take a look at what it looks like and how it's made.

Quality workmanship and ergonomics

I have gray available. variaa color that looks very modern, but at the same time discreet. If you are looking for a more flashy color varianty, this red will surely suit you. JBL Flip 4 is offered in six colors variain black, blue, gray, red, white and turquoise. The last color should arrive in May. varianta in camouflage pattern. Main frame and edges FlipThe edges are rubberized, the rest of the body is covered with textile stitching. The design itself has not changed much from the previous model, the main difference is only in small details. The controls are the same as the last one, the microUSB charging port isonewhich is 3,5mm jack are very well hidden by a rubber cover. All controls offer a satisfactory click and I generally did not experience the slightest problem with the controls. On one side of the textile covering we find the volume and pairing controls, on the frame there are the power and JBL Connect+ function buttons, along with notification LEDs.

Playback quality

The most important thing about a Bluetooth speaker is the sound, and it has Flip 4 great. The first notes will surprise you, because at first glance the small speaker certainly does not look like a device that would be able to produce such good sound, but the opposite is true. The quality of the performance is great, the bass is surprisingly strong and the treble is accurate. The volume reduction is available in a very wide range. Flip 4 can fill a large room or larger open space without any problem. If you need more discreet listening, it has no problem with that either. During the review, I Flip 4 has been used a lot. Both as an external speaker connected to a laptop and as a source of music while sitting on the terrace and grilling. It also went out once and handled everything without a problem. 515 grams of weight is nothing unpleasant and Flip 4 fits into any larger pocket. If you have a backpack, there are no problems with carrying it at all.

záver

As for pairing and accompanying features, I didn't experience a single problem during testing. Pairing with iPhonem/iPad/laptop went smoothly and with the JBL Connect app the device's capabilities are taken to the next level - especially when it comes to the built-in voice assistant. Battery life is exemplary, I got about 13 hours from the tested device, but it should be noted that I was around the 50% volume limit. The most important question of all is ultimately whether JBL Flip 4 is worth the almost 3 crowns, for which it will go on sale in the coming weeks. Everyone has to answer this question for themselves. If you are looking for an external Bluetooth speaker that you will want to carry with you all the time, whether on trips, or to hang out with friends, or anywhere else, this is a very good option. The IPx800 certification is just right, so you don't have to worry about your speaker that much. The rubberized body should really last a lot and the battery life is also very solid. Of the offered variant is a must-have for everyone and from a user perspective, the controls are top notch. JBL obviously knows what they're doing and the latest version of their popular Flipu is once again a great piece of (fun) technology.
