Most people have Apple associated with the production of hardware and software, and they would not think of this company as an energy provider. In August, however, major events took place in this direction - Apple received permission to trade in energy from a California solar farm.

Apple has previously invested in renewable energy sources and makes no secret of the fact that he imagines an ideal future connected to 100% power supply of this type. And he is certainly not alone in this effort. He announced the construction of a new wind farm, for example Amazon, while Google invested in the Ivanpah solar power generation system. ProWhy are tech companies so interested in renewable energy?

"Pro “For these large corporations, electricity is the source of the highest cost,” says Ash Sharma, an analyst at IHS Technology. ProA car for such a large, technology-focused company requires a huge amount of electricity – and therefore a huge amount of money. However, the cost of solar energy is falling.

And besides money, there is of course also the environmental aspect. Carbon footprint is an increasingly pressing issue and requires imaginative and well-thought-out solutions. Apple even on its official website it states that it cares about its own carbon footprint and takes this matter seriously. It takes the environment into account not only during the production of its devices itself, when it takes into account the materials used and their recycling, but also during the use of energy. In addition to solar energy, it also uses wind and hydropower to power its workplace equipment - whether it's lights, servers or coffee machines - and it makes no secret of its goal to operate 100% on renewable sources.

Proof that AppThe growing campus in Cupertino, California, is also a green space, with 95% of the materials used in its construction being recycled – from demolished buildings – and the number of solar panels adorning the main building is also impressive.
