Press Release: With this article, we follow up on the previous part, where we briefly got acquainted with faults of unauthorized services. At the beginning of this part, we will remind you of the ten steps to follow when repairing iPhones or iPads. We put it together in cooperation with a Prague service that has been involved in servicing for several years Apple products.

ProMany people still ask what the difference is between an original, certified and so-called non-branded part, so we are stating it here for clarification.
"An original part is only a part that was installed in the device at the time of manufacture and its serial number is stated in the device's birth certificate. A certified part is a part that is approved for installation in devices during service activities. These are parts that have their own serial numbers and differ from part to part. These componentsoneThe products come from an authorized manufacturer.

For example, the supplier of LCD panels for iPhones is Sharp. The manufacturer of such componenty gives a 24-month warranty. A non-branded part is a part made by OEM manufacturers and the quality, or rather poor quality, corresponds to this. The warranty is maxat least 6 months and even that is very uncertain. Or the serial numbers are all the same to give the impression of some quality. This varia"You should probably only choose this if you have really, really deep pockets," says Mirek Taller, iNdaput service technician. But back to the problems with service stations.

  1. Choose a service that guarantees you the use of certified parts
  2. Make sure you receive a proper sales receipt, a service certificate stating the 24-month warranty for the computer in question.onent and serial number of the part being replaced.
  3. Choose a service that has some history
  4. Whatever you do not like, refuse the services of the service
  5. Do not pay too much attention to reviews, often on available forums and comments, competitors often write disparagingly, especially when they recommend a specific service
  6. Let everything be properly explained. Don't be afraid to ask
  7. They should be able to show you the computer without any problems upon request.onenty that have been changed (I recommend asking for this before the service procedure)
  8. Also ask about possible risks during the repair. For example, the possibility of hidden defects.
  9. Please familiarize yourself with the terms of service
  10. Back up all data before sending the device in for repair

Originally, I had planned to write a completely different article, but given the feedback on the previous article (Service for iPhone with non-original parts: a million-dollar business that pleases scumbags!) I decided to change this a little. Some of you would like to read which excellent ones sometimes produce real horrors. Unfortunately, we have not yet received permission from the owners of the devices to publish these services. However, some of them appeared in the comments. Quite frankly, anyone can make a mistake and some parts can be bad from the start. Let's realize that this is just a matter of technology. But today's article will not be about that. Today I will present you with two cases that we consider to be the kings of all horrors that can occur in this industry. What is worse is that these are relatively well-known services.

How are we leaking here?
The first case is iPhone 5s. The customer came to the service saying that he had the entire LCD panel replaced at the XY service after his device fell and the glass broke (not the display). He was assured at this service and even on the receipt it was stated that the entire LCD panel was replaced and it was the original one. There was no product number on the receipt and the warranty was 6 months. His problem was that he noticed something was leaking out of the LCD panel. After opening the device, the following was found.

  1.  Only the glass with the digitizer was changed, not the display as advertised. The glass was not marked in any way, so it was the cheapest product at around 350 crowns.
  2. The glass was poorly fitted and glued. BEWARE - MELTING GUN
  3. The technician at the unnamed Prague company didn't even bother to take everything apart so that the glass wouldn't slide off over time due to classic impacts. ProOver time, a fusible substance appeared that resembled glue. More on the photo below.

ProIs the battery not working?
In this case, the defect was simple. Again, it was a serviced piece from a Prague company that deals with service. iPhone. A customer came to us in Indaput saying that he had his phone serviced 6 months ago due to a bad battery. His payment for the battery was 1690 CZK per iPhone 4s. Again, it was supposed to be an original battery Apple and now be careful with the capacity of 1510 mAh. I note that for iPhone The 4s only has an original battery with a capacity of 1430 mAh. The warranty this time was only for 3 months.

After opening it, even the experienced matador in the service center was amazed. The battery in the phone was some kind of blue-tech brand, the battery capacity was stated to be 1490 mAh. In addition tooneThe battery was apparently glued to the motherboard with superglue. Ordinary double-sided adhesive tape was pasted over it. Very carefully and literally under a magnifying glass, it was discovered that the superglue had a reason. During the last service, the technician, while dismantling the original battery, tore off theonewhich on the board with everything. I probably don't even need to mention how the customer reacted to this discovery. Photo documentation was made and handed over to the customer with a report, who had an unpleasant outcome in front of him. See pictures from the photo documentation below. This was probably the biggest amateurism I have ever seen, he said. Mirek Taller iNdaput service technician V Jáma 1, Prague 1
