Google has grown so much in recent years that we could name its projects for several minutes. That's why the company announced the biggest transformation in its history. It is even a change so big that the technology giant will start appearing on the market under a new name, and while we have known it until now as Google, future generations will remember it as Alphabet. At the same time, it becomes the new "father" company for all the projects of Google up to now. It will have a number of subsidiaries under it, and the letter G, i.e. Google, will have the greatest importance.

The Google division will now focus only on web services such as Search, Gmail and Drive. The division will have its own CEO, who is Sundar Pichai. He currently held the position of Senior Vice President for Android, Chrome and applications. The divisions that deal with research in the field of healthcare will be separated from it, so Life Sciences and Calico will be two separate companies separated from Google. The company believes that such a division in the manner of a conglomerate, such as Samsung, will allow better management of individual divisions, with the fact that the company will be able to focus on individual projects much better than before, and each division will have its own CEO. The top director will be Larry Page, he will be the head of Alphabet. The co-founder of Google, Sergey Brin, will act as president for a change. Finally, shareholders have nothing to worry about as their shares will be automatically converted into Alphabet shares. The name of the company on the stock exchange will not change either, it is still GOOG or GOOGL.

And what companies are now under Alphabet?

  • Google
  • Life Sciences
  • Calico
  • Nest
  • YouTube
