Growing number of users MacBooků Pro starts complaining on foreign forums, including the company's official discussion forums Apple, to problems with your MacBooky ProAfter a certain period of time, they lose their anti-reflective properties and can no longer absorb reflections as well as before. Glossy displays, which Apple started to install in their computers years ago met with very contradictory reactions from users. The displays have much more vivid colors than classic LCD panels with a matte design, but they have a disadvantage precisely in the reflections that are reflected in the display and it must be noted that Apple initially even allowed it on selected computers, notchat install a matte display for a €100 fee.
Now there are complaints about the anti-reflective coating starting to evaporate from the displays for reasons still unknown, and it seems that once the coating disappears from the display, the computer is almost unusable. Users also complain about the fact that they used exactly the products it recommends to clean their displays Apple, i.e. a small amount of water and a lint-free cloth. By the way, the most ingenious cloth for cleaning displays with a price of CZK 50, we presented in the article: Spontex Wonder: cloth for 50 CZK, with which you can polish the display like no other!
Users complaining about this issue have encountered conflicting responses from Applu. While some owners who fall under the one-year international warranty have received from Appnew computers, owners of older devices or those who do not pay AppleCare, were rebuffed with the answer that cosmetic damage is not covered by the warranty and that repairing it at the service center will cost hundreds of dollars.
phew... sad because I'm the owner of one you know Roman tell which models it concerns? so that I don't have to wipe anymore :D
This looks like a serious piece of work I was just about to buy one MacBook Pro Retina
That doesn't exactly strike me as a cosmetic defect...
well, I strongly doubt that they wiped it with water :-D maybe they wanted to degrease it with some kind of technical gasoline or thinner :-D
palihra, abandoning a purchase because of such a tabloid article is ridiculous :-D there is no mention of retina anywhere, so it could easily be the first PRO, where a manufacturing defect could have occurred :-D
It is so. But now I wonder what to do with it.
I thought it was my fault, but apparently it happens to others too. I don't have that much, but the corners of the screen are already gone……
Prometheuzs: What model do you have?
sairik: this article was also broadcast on macrumors when it has almost 400 comments, I also looked Apple discussions, this looks like a really important problem, and with a computer in my case for 1600E without a warranty on the AR layer, that's a problem, I'm very curious how to do it Apple build it, the display is a whole, to change it completely...?
I am also reporting a defect, only on the top side and luckily it doesn't work through the display...
Well, I would also like to know if it applies to all models or only some series? because I definitely don't use some fancy cloth to clean the display, but an ordinary piece of cloth and water
Well, well... So don't shop at the Holesovice market :))
So the display MacBooku wipe with water? I always do it with that LCD spray, so is that wrong? (I don't have any defects on the display)
Come and write here everyone who doesn't have any defects on the display, that's a great idea :)))
I only clean mine with water and an ordinary kitchen cellulose towel :P
I have the same problem and it's really driving me crazy. Mac Book Pro Retina 13″ – late 2012.
Can you please write who has this defect, what model you have and what year. I'm looking to buy a new 13 (2015) and can't wait. The 2011 model has absolutely no problems and I clean it with a window cleaner.
MB Pro late 2013, in the left part outside the display after 14 months of use. I clean the display very gently with a micro cloth and eyeglass solution. The stain appeared in the place where I cleaned the most finger prints. Now I have replaced the display and I prefer not to clean it at all :)
….by outside the display I mean the place where there is still a “glass layer, but there is no LCD under it anymore….
ok ok :-D
so by the way, let the author of the article publish an email where the readers will send him their photos, model designation and let the article be updated with these photos :) and also information about how often you clean it :)
It has been many years since my cousin removed the anti-reflective coating on her CRT monitor with a universal cleaner that was not intended for cleaning the monitor. I don't know anyone in my area who uses preparations intended for cleaning the monitor. Everyone sit down (clean) ,,nothing,,
With spring water without smudges and without problems or just breathe and microfiber. iMac 2011 also had a problem with the display although others were getting stains on it. Give Applu time for evaluation and announces an exchange program. ProThe problem is that there are a lot of exchange programs in our country.
MacBook Pro 15″ Early 2011 – no problems yet :)
Mam macbook pro 2011 and window cleaner and microfiber, and no problems… and that's how I clean until now….
Generally, only retinas suffer from this... I had this problem after about 11 months... The complaint went through fine
