The fact that we now need mobile phones in almost every sphere of our lives is clear. Whether we use the phone as a work tool, a camera or a portable game console, smartphones have become an integral part of everyday life. And it is precisely this fact that the hotel giants are beginning to realize and are starting to use NFC and Bluetooth in phones for keyless systems.
Just these days, the Starwood hotel chain presented its first phase of a keyless system based on Bluetooth technology. With the help of an application that the applicant for accommodation downloads to his smartphone, he will be able to unlock his hotel room without a key. The entire application is connected with Bluetooth technology in smartphones with the Android system or on iPhone. The system will be extended to ten hotels around the world and will be fully operational from Wednesday. By the end of next year, SPG Keyless technology connected to smartphones should then be extended to up to 150 hotels, which would allow over 30 hotel rooms to be unlocked with the help of this system.
Every customer of a hotel complex that has this technology will have to log into the system and then a special code will be generated within 24 hours to open the door to his hotel room. The guest will thus receive a Push notification about the verification of their registration and about sending a special code. The main advantage of this system will be the complete omission of the reception, since along with the code that will ensure keyless Bluetooth opening of the room, the potential guest will also receive the room of their choice. The whole system will work in such a way that it will be enough to hold the phone with the application running to the door lock and Bluetooth will unlock your hotel room for you. However, the Starwood hotel chain is not the only one working on keyless technology. The hotel giant Hilton is also developing its keyless system, which wants to introduce it to up to 4 hotels around the world by the end of next year.
