Shop Apple Store on 5th Avenue is one of the best-known stores today and at the same time the best-known store of the company Apple. This store became famous mainly because of the glass cube on the surface, in which there is only a large logo Apple and the staircase that takes us to the shop underground. The author of this design, Vicky Ward, recalls the beginnings of the most famous store in her latest book Apple Store and reveals what preceded the opening of the facility on 5th Avenuin 2006.

An idea related to the store on 5th Avenue was already established in November 2003, when Steve Jobs he met real estate tycoon Harry Macklow, who was connected to him by a former real estate executive Apple George Blankenship. Jobs initially wanted the store to be open 24/7 and began working on it with architecture firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, which is also behind the design Apple Store SoHo. It was during the meeting that the idea was born that the store could be located in the unused basement in front of the General Motors building, with a large glass cube above it.

Interestingly, both Jobs and Macklowe came up with the idea, but both had a different view of the cube. They both brought dice that differed from each other and from the current design, causing the discussion to stretch to an hour and a half. Jobs initially wanted a 12-meter cube, which Jobs himself eventually rejected. Why? It was too big, so they agreed to Macklow's proposal that the cube would only be 9 meters tall, which it is today. However, it is interesting that at the time no one knew that the business would become so popular, and today the lawyer of the Macklow company quite regrets dealing with Appthe quarry did not agree on higher fees.
