Apple shut down his official online store for a relatively long time this morning Apple Store worldwide, so that it can then be launched together with the launch of the new iMac. The new version of the iMac computer carries a price of 29 CZK/990 €, for which you get a 1099″ iMac model with a 21,5Ghz dual-core Intel Core i1,4 processor, which is likely the same as in the new generation MacBooku Air and allows Turbo Boost up to 2,7Ghz. The computer is also equipped with 8GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and an Intel HD Graphics 5000 graphics card. Interestingly, even though the computer was only introduced today, Apple.cz guarantees delivery in one to three working days.
There has been speculation about a new, cheaper iMac since the beginning of this year, so far the cheapest 21,5″ iMac model cost €1299, which means that Apple reduced the price of the base model of this all-in-one computers by €200. ProThe problem with this computer is that you can't configure it to your liking, with the only exception being the disk, which can be changed when ordering. Apparently, the RAM is not replaceable at all, given that Apple it does not state that these are individual modules, as it states with all other computers.

Hey, I have a question: I'm thinking about buying... macbook and I was wondering if it's possible to connect a classic hard drive to it or does it have to be similar to what WD does with its series specifically designed for Mac?
Although it's not entirely related to the topic, but :-) I have an external WD My Passport drive that is not connected directly to the Mac. I just had to format it to exFat after purchase, which was a matter of 5 minutes, using Disk Utility directly in mac OSX. ;-)
It works and it's on topic, because the iMac has a classic HDD in it, so with an essentially mandatory investment in an SSD, when the price rises to 36500, it will still need some secondary storage for data :D
But yeah, well….iMac withonem MacBook Air :) luckily it doesn't have retina, but only FHD, so it could workoneI'm kind of enough.
El Barto:
You can basically connect any, but as Luki writes, you have to format it preferably to exfat, because then there is compatibility with win, or you can copy the program, I don't really know the name, and the mac will learn to work with NTFS, which is probably a better choice if someone will occasionally bring you flash drives from win pc
Ha ha ha, another one Apple trolling :D
It only has a dual-core processor and in combination with a 5400 rpm disk it will be slower than the basic one macbook air :-)
It is only for the very undemanding consumer.
dfx:
I would like to have your concerns
dfx
to the commonancIt's perfectly adequate for technical work, I don't understand why trolling? No one claims that it's for video editing or 3D rendering.
dfx: Apple it is not Samsung that has to collect tens of giga ram, 100 cores to turn on the given device and work for normal work :)
Well, I probably wouldn't even bother with the performance, but in my opinion the price is high, for the same price you can have macbook air with the same hw and can connect it to an even larger monitor and transfer
I would justify the price if it was around 20
Performance will be ok, I'm on the basic one macbooku air I edit 2k video and play games and it even handles it better than without a problem macbook retina 13″ in native resolution retina It's a terrible performance failure.
I'm not impressed with this step, there's already too much going on. variaIt should be low cost and high end and done at 21 and 27 and not suck out of your finger a little cheaper variabecause there are just a lot of parts on macbook air available
How to kill a potential customer? 6000 for an SSD from the factory :D Did Phil make this himself?
appsman
You're right, but not everyone needs to be mobile and variawith Airand an external monitor is not suitable for everyone. I think the target group of this iMac is, for example, a regular secretary. She doesn't need to take her work home and in terms of compatibility with the boss, who has, for example, MacBook Pro or the 27″ iMac is the ideal cheap desktop Mac.
jarys
by the way, in CR, an ordinary Czech secretary will never have a maca, in CR she often drives on old computers with XP
It is too nestNice conversion to euros and Czech price, in the US it costs less than 25 thousand for $ and that is a much more pleasant price than I would imagine it for here too
Appsman: The only bad thing is the conversion to euros because if you compare the price in other EU countries, we are often better off here than abroad. But then there is the problem with salaries that are somewhere else.
Jarys: Well, it will be enough for such a madmananccarpenter's work, if he can handle it chromebook for 300 euros :-)
That 5400 rpm disc perfectly kills any performance. Last year macbooky air they had a disk speed of over 700MB/s, this year macbooky air have a disk speed of over 300MB/s. This iMac will have a disk speed of less than 100MB/s.
It's fun to watch how Apple makes ever worse devices and lowers the price. this year we already got 8GB iPhone 5C, macbooky air with half the speed of a disk and now also an iMac with a dual-core processor. I'm curious about the second semester, when it's over Apple best port readyfolio products over the past 25 years. If he lived Steve Jobs, So Apple produces devices with uncompromising performance and increases the price.
ProDidn't they update the iMacs' HW? :( Disappointing... plus the price difference isn't significant
dfx….please shut up. What a sentence, what a piece of shit
So I just visited the Louvre Product The launch of this new iMac, the applause that its first owner got here was tremendous! – Sent from a new iMac
Dfx, what will you say this year? macbooky air They have a 700+ speed disk, at first there was a test where the speed was low, but further tests confirmed that it was just a faulty piece or bad measurements, we also have a mid 2014 at home and the disk speed is the same as the mid 2013, +-700 read, +- 500 write
Dfx: "Well, it will be enough for such a frenzyanccarpenter's work, if he can handle it chromebook for 300 euros :-)"
…but it probably won't run OS X on it, will it? Dude, get your head out of your ass and do some thinking. If I have a Mac as a business owner, it is ideal for me that the secretary also has a Mac. 1. it represents when he has a beautiful computer on his desk and I have a visitor and 2. he is fully compatible with me! So a cheap iMac is absolutely perfect for her.
Appsman: "it's a shame that an ordinary Czech secretary will never have a boyfriend in the Czech Republic..."
...you might be surprised how many secretaries in the Czech Republic have an iMac on their desk when their boss is "Apple positive" ...I speak from my own experience when I go to meetings.
Anyway, you're right that it's an expensive joke by Czech standards, but the Czech Republic probably Apple from a pricing perspective, it doesn't really matter. In the US, the iMac is already a common thing and its cheaper varianta will definitely find its target group.
EDIT: we just checked out Allin's offerONE on the Czech market and the price doesn't seem so bad to me anymore
same as aboveone allinone with a diagonal of around 21-23″ they start at 25 but they are ugly thick plastic monstrosities
what if apple It also went for 25, wouldn't this iMac have the same competition in the AiO market as for example macbook air not in the field ultrabook
it's a bit of a shame that the price is a couple of thousand less and it would really be a bomb, especially compared to the competition
appman: No Apple could at least announce what speed the drive should have so that it can be complained about if it is slow. BTW macbook air mid 2013 should have +800 read and +700 write.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/7085/the-2013-macbook-air-review-13inch/8
Jarys: That's true. On chromeno OS X will work on the book. But if I had a secretary and wanted to buy her an iMac for work, I wouldn't torture her with this discounted dual-core iMac. I would rather pay the extra two hundred.
dfx: didn't he abuse this cheap iMac? I think you're exaggerating. I believe that a secretary would write emails, edit spreadsheets and deal with my calendar on that iMac as quickly as on Mac Pro ;-)
Then again, nothing... It's a shame to think about this!
I will wait ………….!
Unredeemed citizen: what are you missing there?
dfx: I tell you, stop it…you are sucking info from your fingers or from one source. I have an 11MBA 2013 W300MB/s R700MB/s. What factory supplies SSDs to macbookThere are a lot of them and their speeds are not the same. The same applies to MBA 2014 where there are better and worse results somewhere. But they are just strings in the wind….do I recognize it? no. If 6500 CZK is small today, then good day.
pan_Mluvci: If you have any speed test results of those discs, feel free to write them. I can't blame that Apple will not state, aka miniThere should be a low speed. Apple he often uses parts from different manufacturers and the customer doesn't even know what he's buying. For example, there were times when almost all displays were 15″ retina macbookoh, the ones from LG were defective and the customers wanted displays from Samsung. They even put a zalob on at that time Apple, that they are two different products and Apple to inform from whom the parts are used in each product.
Goddammit, why do you keep talking about the “cheap” iMac? ProWould any businessman invest in a computer for a secretary, almost 3 times as much as he would have to buy a regular PC, which is the only thing that can be compared to this? Alternatively, it is enough to invest only half in a regular, NTB with IN for the aforementioned secretary... As a few people have mentioned here, there is probably a surplus of components for MB Air and also... in the 20 years or so that I've been following and using Apple never really nestIt would be great if a computer with absurdly low performance would come out.onem, 5400 rpm disk, etc. And also – who on earth would buy a completely low-end computer for 30k? Really stupid.
MacMac, why? ProSo what else? She says not every secretary is an IT specialist and not every company has a side job.ancI'm an IT person. So as an owner I have one platform on all PCs, everything runs without any intervention, if by chance it doesn't, I don't have to know everything, but I can get by with OS X knowledge. A few months ago I was fooled by Lenovo with Win 8... I'll never make such a mistake again, every day when I see Lenovo, that damn Win 8 and how something still needs to be "tuned", never again and that Lenovo became 15. Prono Mac Mini and accessories, because there are tons of cables and tons of possibilities that the specialist will adjust something between the chair and the keyboard... all in 1 is at Apple perfectly thought out, it works, it looks, I'll do it, he beat me to the punchancElarin decides, but in the house CloudOn a server, the HDD is only needed for the system and a few files... So if it had a 128GB SSD, and only 4GB of RAM, I'll take it... That slow and relatively unreliable HDD?!? I already have an HDD and windows I never want anywhere!!!
The only one who writes sensibly here is MirekJ. The others here are really bullshitting.
ProAre you arguing about SSD speed here, when speed in MB/s is "irrelevant" - or do you seriously notice the difference between 500MB/s and 700MB/s??? IOPS are more important and they are high on both generations.
Flame: I don't know the secretary's job, but in what and how would she do any spreadsheets - moreover, those that she should share with Windows the world?? Numbers they are useless, Office for Mac is terribly lazy and inefficient (other keyboard shortcuts were probably invented by an idiot) and various free varianty are even worse with compatibility. In our case, one solves it through Parallels and Win Office. Probut to buy a Mac to run only Windows, I have no clue.
