Release a new version of the operating system for Apple usually means that it will also reveal some news about some upcoming hardware innovations. In the new beta version of OS X 10.9.4, information appeared about an iMac with Retina display, which should have a truly incredible resolution. The machine, which is identified in OS X 10.9.4, should offer maxThe maximum resolution is 6400×3600 pixels, with the native resolution being 5120×2880 pixels, which is double the resolution of the current 27″ iMac.
However, if it is a so-called Retina iMac, then it is likely that Apple will reduce the resolution of 6400×3600 pixels in half and the display will offer a resolution of 3200×1900 HiDPI. HiDPI is essentially a virtual resolution that displays elements in a resolution of 1280×800 pixels on a display with a higher resolution and then recalculates the elements to enlarge them so that the user perceives large elements, which are much sharper than on a regular display. MaCbook Pro Retina It has a native resolution of 2880×1800 pixels, but the display itself is capable of generating resolutions up to 3840×2400 pixels. The most interesting thing is that the iMac's resolution of 5120×2880 pixels was already talked about in mid-2012, and you can read about it directly in the article: The iMac 27″ will offer a resolution of 5120×2880 pixels and MacBook Pro 15″ resolution 2880×1800 pixels?

Can someone please explain to me what the resolution means? Macbooku? So in reality, if I count the real pixels that a 15-inch monitor has, it's 3840×2400, but I artificially have a resolution of 2880×1800? If I play a 4K video, will it still run at 2880×1800, or will it use all 3840×2400? Thanks
mkmiki: Check it out RetinaDisplayMenu and you will see what your display can do. Just be careful to read it afterwards! And if you don't have MacBook At home I'll tell you how he wrote Roman above, the display is limited maxThe resolution is 2880×1800 but it can do 3840×2400. And it's really tiny, I would say unusable for normal work, except for extremists. 4k video should use physical pixels, in my opinion it has nothing to do with the system resolution. I can imagine that the difference is equally unnoticeable on 15 inches and that's probably one of the reasons why it's used Apple sononec decided and limited the resolution. The saddest part of all is that on the other side of the hunt for very high resolution is a bizarre fact. There is sadly little content in such resolutions. Even Apple, which brought truly high resolution to mobile platforms (iPhone, iPad, MacBook Retina) and perhaps soon to the iMac, does not offer any extra pixels on iTunes against the competition. But the fault is probably mainly in the content creators and, I dare say, also in the pricing policy, especially in comparison to purchasing power.
When online 4K movie rentals become half the price of a movie ticket, my significant other will have to find a way to prepare it for me. maxxxi hotdog and a liter bucket (you can't call this a cup anymore!) guys, for a full American cinema experience in comfort, come back :)
So if I remember these calculations correctly and I have Macbook with the retina, both the author and Wolf are mistaken.
Macbook with retina has a resolution of 2880×1800(r15). What you are calculating here and thinking is the real resolution of the display is not true...
This is only a system calculation to correctly scale the size of the elements on such a fine display.
For retina 15 it is max × 3840 2400. Prothat's hers maxThe maximum scaling is 1920×1200. 1920×2 = 3840 :-) 1200×2=2400.
Then of course there is lower scaling.
1680 × 1050
1680 2 × = 3360
1050 2 × = 2100
so the imacy will be released before OSX 10.10... when apple they will probably introduce it :-/ if maybe just a silent upgrade without fuss, but if they are going to mess around with the resolution like this, I would be surprised if it will be without a conference
The resolution for the new iMac is fairly obvious. ProThat is, it is a multiple of 2 (or 4x higher than the original iMac) in both height and width ratio.
Thus, it will offer a real HiDPI mod at 2560×1440 like the original iMac, but much finer.
Appsman: If it's like last year, then in September there will be iPhones with IOS 8, in October macbook, imacy and macy in general with ipads and also Mac OS Yosemite
Even if someone does not understand why such a high resolution is generated on the 15 retina, it is because the resolution of 3840×2400 is divided by the real resolution and the calculation of how many pixels should be displayed instead of one is obtained.
I used to have a spreadsheet for this.
But it is like this without any table:
1440×900 is actually 4 pixels by 1.
1680×1050 is realistically 3,5 pixels per 1
1920×1200 is realistically 3 pixels to 1
