When Samsung introduced its latest smartphone, it was clear that it would be compared primarily to iPhonem. On the website LsA you could read the review (Galaxy S III vs. iPhone, Nokia Lumia 800 vs. iPhone) of both devices from the workshop Romana Zavřeland, however, I bring a somewhat different concept. In the style of my previous analyses, I will present you with the opinions of a relatively large number of respondents. As always, however, I must warn you of the danger posed by the method of collecting the presented data. I have already pointed out the disadvantages of surveying via Internet portals several times - notably, for example, in the article Owners are not switching to Lumia 800 and Titan II mobile phones iPhone as massively as some media claim. Before any attempt to adopt or generalize the data presented here, I recommend reading the second paragraph of the mentioned article.

Polldaddy.com decided to ask three questions in its poll. The poll itself was placed on news portals, some of which are really prestigious. A relatively high sample participated in the vote. The following graphs contain the questions asked (I tried to stick to the literal translation, as the way the questions / answers are constructed can significantly distort the resulting values) and the processed results, which are modeled for the needs of LsA.

The first graph clearly shows that voters in the poll prefer iPhone. It should be added that the aim of this question was primarily to find out whether voters prefer devices of one brand or another, all others were therefore included in the “other” group. Even at this point, I repeatedly urge caution in interpreting these data, primarily due to the unknown structure of the sample of voters, but also due to other problems related to the research (see above). Of the three questions that I will present here, the first was answered by the most participants, the specific number was 2,862 at 19:00 on June 24, 2012 (the poll is still running on some servers).

I dare say that for readers LsA this graph will be much more interesting. As the question suggests, the goal was to find out why iPhone pro voters more attractive than Samsung products. The difference between the profit of the operating system and design is not very high, together they reach more than 50%. It is therefore appropriate to identify these two reasons as the main ones. Those who consider iPhone more attractive, mainly because of the operating system and design of the smartphone. The number of respondents in this case was more than half lower than in the first question (1,268).

The last graph I will present in the article concerns a very interesting issue. Its impact on perception AppI tried to predict this in my analysis earlier – Analysis: Are patent disputes damaging the image? Apphuh? In my April article, I attempted to make a kind of prediction of the impact of patent disputes on the perception of the company's brand. Back then, I already pointed out the problematic methodology of the research, which could bring really relevant results, but unfortunately, the output presented below did not solve this problem either. In the aforementioned analysis, I also focused mainly on the European market. However, my prediction was that the majority of fans Applu will perceive patent disputes neutrally (or slightly positively), but I also pointed out that even in this camp there will be criticism of excessive effort Applu. I estimated the negative impact of disputes primarily in the camp of fans of competing companies. It is important to note that the results contained in the following graph are primarily from the United States of America, where the perception of brands can be (and indeed is) significantly different from the European continent.

From the above data it is clear that the camp, where the effort Applu had no effect is almost as numerous as those who perceive the company's efforts negatively. Again, however, we do not know what the distribution of those who voted was. Among those who responded, there could easily have been more staunch opponents Applu than fans (or vice versa). Drawing any general conclusions is therefore more than problematic. However, if we decide to add the largest group to those on whom the activity has Applu positive effect, it can be said that more than half of the voters have no problem with the company's legal actions. At the same time, these actions did not have a negative impact on the perception of the brand. Let us also add that the smallest number of readers answered this final question – 619.
