An incredible twelve years have passed since my friend and I went to play nek after school.onelong hours of Diablo II on a 15″ CRT monitor connected to a computer that roared about as much as a fighter jet taking off. After twelve years of anticipation, Diablo III is coming, not only in a PC version, but also for Mac. As of yesterday, you can buy Diablo III for Mac for €59 directly here. If you want to have a box with the game on your shelf in 2012, like many other gamers, you can buy it for the same price directly at amazon.com. At the time of writing this article, no Czech or Slovak retailer offers a boxed version of the game for Mac.
Interestingly, you can play Diablo III on Mac from the same day as PC players, which is about a year before the legend gets its console version. So if you're a RPG fan and want to reminisce about the old days, prepare a bundle with, in addition to €50, miniat least the following configuration.
- Mac OS X 10.6.8 and later
- Intel Core 2 Duo
- Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT or ATI Radeon HD 2600
- 2 GB RAM
- 12 GB of free disk space
Hello, it's probably not worth buying the game when I have Macbook Air 13″ 2011??? The graphics what? ;-( :-(
Díky
Otherwise, I'll just add that Diablo 3 works fine on MacBook Air (i5, Intel HD Graphics 3000). The guys from Blizzard have worked hard and have skillfully optimized Diablo for the MAC HW world.
To Czechman: don't worry about it at all, I have the same one Airand :-)
Hello, unfortunately I don't know much about graphics card levels...I have macbook Pro, i7 2,4 Sandy bridge, AMD Radeon HD6770M 1GB... will it work? :-/
There is a mistake in the article regarding the price, the American version of the game costs 60 USD. The European version costs 60 EUR. I'm talking about digital distribution. The box is global, but as it is written, it is difficult to find it in the Czech Republic for Mac.
Hello,
if anyone has experience running this game on a 2,4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB, I would be happy for the information. Thanks!
Petr Přibyl: I play it on it myself, at full FullHD details and no problem ;-).
appstore nothing?! So if anyone has any information that it will be on appstore
Aren't the prices in euros and dollars changed by any chance?
Cau Roman,
it just occurred to me, you wrote about €60. The game is tied to a battle.net account. Isn't it easier then to buy a classic PC box for €50 and download the game client for Mac from Blizzard? I don't know how it works with the installation of game clients on Macs, let me know if necessary.
It's possible, but the digital license cost €59.99 on the European battlenet yesterday. I don't know how much it costs in the US because I only have a European account.
On competing sites and on the official Diablo website there is information that the game does not run on Macs where it is installed. FileVault ...does anyone have experience if this is really the case?
He does have the best product, huh? Apple within MacBooku offers, but writes from Windowsů :D
I have a PC at home that I want to upgrade and as a fan of Starcraft and Warcraft, I haven't even tried to install Starcraft 2 yet, because the game requires a supportive atmosphere and that's not the case in the absence of maximal details at high resolution with a newer version of DirectX and play on a monitor with at least 22 inches. Don't be fooled, it's like watching a movie on the subway on an iPad instead of in thenestar and that's just degradation :-)
He writes with Windows, do you have Widle at work? Someone has to work for him too :D
Na MacBook Pro a Air with HD3000 it runs great. You can still play on nVidia 9400M, but it won't be as great in multiplayer. After a few changes in D3Prefs.txt I got it running on Intel X3100 but I got maxat least 15FPS – i.e. unplayable.
Awesome game, great graphics, I'm just sorry that it needs to be connected to battle.net all the time. At least I haven't figured out how to play it offline without an internet connection. Yesterday all battle.net servers were totally overloaded and I really don't want to wait an hour..
Just to calm the panic, Blizzard has for a long time (wow, starcraft2 and now Diablo 3) put on the Installation DVD how Windows so Mac installation!!! I can confirm, I have everything mentioned from Xzon and it works!!
The process is a bit confusing, you can easily buy a box, which is about 300 CZK cheaper than the "digital" version directly from Blizzard, and after registering the serial number on battle.net, download the client for Mac... the result is the same, just save approx. 1 a carton of Redbull, which will definitely come in handy for sleepless nights with D3 ;-)
Lukáš: thanks, I'm looking forward to it :)
Martin and the others: that's exactly right, Widle feeds me, thanks to them I have MacBookand :D
RomanWell, the boxed version is, as Blizzard previously announced, multiplatform. So it doesn't matter if you install it on a MAC or PC, the installer on the DVD will work on both platforms :)
@Jindřich Veselý
So can I understand that if I buy a boxed version for PC in a store, the game will run on my Mac? Or will I be able to choose whether to install the game on a PC or a Mac? There will be no problem if I want to play the game on a Mac AirWhat if I don't have an external drive and I want to install the game from a flash drive, for example?
Thanks a lot
Maybe someone already wrote it here, but there is no version for Mac, it is the same version as for pro Windows. The DVD is for both systems. I've had it since Monday midnight and I've been playing happily for two days now ;)
Petr Pribyl: do you think anyone here is interested in your bullshit?
:D:D:D wondering if it will work if I have an i7? trololol :D it was fun, really :D
I apologize to all the discussants for my ignorance, I really had no idea that my machine was so bloated. In light of this new discovery, I understand that my posts here may have come across as out of place, even boastful. To those who were amused by my ignorance, I wish it from the bottom of my heart, and to arrogant envious people, I also apologize for the moral damage caused...
It really works on your Intel HD 3000 (Latest MB Pro 13")? For me it's slidescho (15-20FPS).
the fact that the game is available on mac at the same time as on pc is due to the fact that blizzard releases games on both platforms in the same way. For example, I have a wow box at home and the DVD works both under PC and Mac.
Is the information that if I buy a box of the original Diablo 3 game, which the seller offers as a PC, that I can install this game in a MAC OS environment, is it really true? :-O Is there any price difference between installing Diablo 3 from NET or buying the boxed version?
kadelus: I have the same mac, I ran the demo on low settings in full resolution and it was 9 fps I dare say, but after the game update it got better and I also ran it on medium details and it was quite playable except for the occasional slowdown.
Will Diablo III run on the following configuration: Macbook PRO; Intel Core i7 2,7 GHz (2 cores); Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB; 4 gb ram? Thanks for the answer
http://aukro.cz/diablo-iii-ceska-krabicova-verze-i2388947906.html good price who takes it, hurry up
So on Thursday I got a Diablo in Tesco and on the configuration on macbook 13 2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, Intel HD Graphics 3000 (shared with RAM – 384MB). And it runs basically at full detail, not counting the fact that it's heating up like crazy.
