With the growing threat of ransomware and the complexity of hybrid IT environments, enterprise resilience is under unprecedented pressure. QNAP® Systems, Inc., a leading innovator in storage, networking and computing solutions, today announced the release of a new enterprise backup solution GDP for Business BetaBy eliminating the need for expensive, specialized backup devices, HDP for Business allows businesses to transform existing devices QNAP NAS to centralized backup and recovery verification centers that provide data protection across locations with optimized total cost of ownership (TCO).

“The biggest weakness of enterprise backups is uncertainty – having backups without knowing for sure that you will actually restore them in the event of a crisis,” he says. Jack Wang, the company's product manager QNAP“HDP for Business builds automated recovery verification and boot process logging into the very core of the solution, providing verifiable proof that recovery actually works. This significantly reduces the burden of IT audits while serving as a key line of defense against ransomware and helping to ensure business continuity.”

Unified integration to eliminate siloed IT environments in the enterprise

Modern enterprise IT includes virtual machines, physical servers, and storage from different vendors, leading to fragmented backup management. HDP for Business unifies disparate local (on-premise) and edge (edge) workloads into a single platform. Supports virtual machines (VMware®, Microsoft® Hyper-V, Proxmox®), end devices (Windows® PC / Server), file servers (Nutanix®, NetApp®, QNAP NAS, SMB/rsync) and databases (Oracle®, Microsoft® SQL Server). Organizations no longer need to use different backup tools for different platforms, which greatly simplifies IT management.

Built-in protection for increased ransomware resistance

As part of the Zero Trust concept, backups are the last line of defense. HDP for Business uses three key mechanisms to ensure the immutability and isolation of backup files:

  • Immutable backups: Thanks to integration with the QuTS hero operating system, backups are locked after writing. Even system administrators cannot change or delete data during the retention period.
  • Isolation Airgap+: Backup servers are automatically shut down outside of scheduled backup windows and remain physically offline during potential cyberattacks, preventing the lateral spread of threats.
  • Soulad s 3-2-1-1-0: Seamless integration with repositories QNAP (local QuObjects, cloudoh myQNAPcloud Object) and S3-compatible cloudservices (Amazon® S3, Wasabi®) allows you to create remote, immutable copies and ensures that no backup goes unverified.

Proactive backup verification and instant recovery

HDP for Business addresses the common problem of "backup does not mean recovery" by automatically performing recovery tests and running them on the backup server after the job is complete, including video recording as evidence for IT audits without impacting the production environment.

In the event of an unexpected server outage, IT teams can leverage Instant Recoverystore and run the backed up files directly as virtual machines on the backup server, restoring services in minutes instead of hours.

Centralized management of multiple branches without license lock-in

HDP for Business is designed for organizations with multiple locations and offers a centralized management console with global visibility from a single sign-on. Failover to a backup management server ensures high availability – if the main server goes down, theminiAdministrators can switch to a backup server with one click and scheduled backup jobs will continue without interruption.

Unlike traditional solutions that charge per server or VM protected, HDP for Business enables unlimited device protection without per-node fees. The software installs directly on supported x86 QNAP NAS units and shares storage and computing power for the lowest possible operating costs. The only paid component is Centralized Management. Beta version supports up to four QNAP NAS units (including a management node and a backup node), the official version will offer scalable licensing options.
