HomeThe Pod may soon get one of the biggest audio updates since its introduction. In the latest code beta version audioOS 27 managed to discover relatively detailed references to a new surround sound system using four HomePod. Apple so apparently he is testing the possibility of building around Apple TV a true four-speaker home theater. Currently, it is possible to Apple TV 4K connect "only" one HomeUnder or two HomePods as a stereo pair.

Apple although it can now simulate using a pair of speakers Dolby Atmos and surround sound, but the system does not support physical rear speakers, which could change now. Code audioThe OS 27 includes four new speaker positions, namely front left, front right, rear left and rear right. That it is not just some general designation that you Apple tests in the future then confirms that for individual HomeThe pods are prepared with separate sound processing profiles. Front HomeThe pods are specifically designed to work as classic left and right channels, and their sound will also be adjusted based on their distance from the walls or corners of the room. The rear pair, on the other hand, will get a more omnidirectional sound character to better fill the space behind the listener.
Apple In addition, it prepares automatic calibration of the entire system, which as a result, given that you can iPhone calibrate the image on your Apple TV actually not surprising at all. HomeIn addition, the Pod itself already uses microphones to analyze the acoustics of the room in order to improve its sound performance as much as possible. With the new four, the system should then be able to work with the mutual position of all four speakers, time delay and their synchronization. What's more, according to the code, the setup should behave differently when watching a movie, and differently when listening to music, and there is even a separate low-latency mode.
More news for party lovers
Home theater consisting of four HomeHowever, the pods aren't the only thing the code revealed. It also mentions a new "Party Mode" that is said to be designed for a stereo pair. HomePods, but instead of a precise stereo image, the focus will be on filling the entire room with music as evenly as possible. In other words, it won't matter so much whether you're sitting exactly in the middle in front of the speakers. The sound should spread out more into the space.
The code also contains one more interesting thing. Apple tests a set in which there are two simultaneous HomeThe 2nd generation pod is complemented by a pair of speakers with a yet unknown hardware designation, which may indicate a new one in the works HomeEtc. It is generally assumed that Apple will soon be properly "shoeing" into a Smart again Home products, so it would make sense if, in addition to hot news like HomeThe Pad has just been updated HomePods.
Unfortunately, we don't yet know when or if Apple will make the four-speaker system available. What is, in my opinion, even worse news is that the current configuration is only ready for HomeBelow 2nd generation. Similar profiles for the original HomeUnder or HomeUnder mini have not been found in the code yet, so if you, like me, pamper yourself at home with several HomePods mini and you've secretly dreamed of using them for a four-speaker home theater, we probably don't have tochat go to taste.

Overall, I like the idea of further use. HomePods make a lot of sense given their sound quality. Two HomePods at Apple TV They can already play surprisingly well today, but they're still just a pair of speakers in front of you. Adding two real rear speakers HomePods could therefore make the whole set a much more interesting alternative to a classic soundbar with rear speakers. Only the wallet would be better off buying four HomePodů probably wasn't all that excited, which is why I hope she can have similar fun with him. HomePod miniI currently use them instead of a classic soundbar and I am connected to them with Apple TV more than satisfied.
I would like it if AppleThe TV had ARC so that HomePod can also be used for BluRay.
That would be absolutely fantastic and if the new generation brought it, I would buy it immediately.
ARC works for me on TCL and Samsung TV, specifically with Playstation 5. (on TCL, digital rattles sometimes)
Well, I would be interested in how...
I have a stereo pair. Homeunder 1st Generation
