When Apple in 2020, MagSafe was introduced at iPhone 12 (Pro), it seemed like the beginning of something bigger. The magnetic system for charging and accessories quickly found its place not only in Applu, but also with third-party accessory manufacturers. What is even more interesting is that, according to behind-the-scenes information, it starts in AppThe question to be addressed is whether MagSafe should remain on the iPhone at all.

A very reliable source came with the information a few hours ago in the past leaker Instant Digital, according to which Apple is currently considering whether it makes sense to keep magnets in the iPhone, mainly due to cost and design constraints. MagSafe is not just “a couple of magnets.” It takes up space, costs something, and limits the internal design, and at a time when Apple pushing for the thinnest possible device, every such decision is starting to be known.

The biggest question mark hangs over the future

There is a lot of speculation about the future of MagSafe, including the upcoming iPhone Ultra, i.e. the first flexible iPhone.  It is supposed to be extremely thin, and that could be a problem. Magnets simply take up space and if Apple pushes the thickness on minimum, it may happen that MagSafe will go away. And that would be quite a paradox – the most expensive iPhone in history, it could arrive without one of the most practical features of recent years.

On the other hand, there is one major counterargument, which is the accessory ecosystem. A huge number of accessories and Apple Moreover, it indirectly "opened" it to the world through the Qi2 standard, which is based on it. Removing it completely would not make much sense. However, theoretically, it could solve everything elegantly by keeping MagSafe as such in the covers that the vast majority of users have anyway. iPhone uses, and would remove it from the body precisely to free its hands for future development.

So let's be surprised how the whole plot about the future of MagSafe will turn out. However, we are convinced that its end will not be so hot considering how useful the accessory is. And honestly, we actually hope so, because the magnetic accessory in combination with iPhone we really enjoy using it.
