Over the past few years, I've gotten used to using the "new" generation of the original along with the new generation of the iPhone. Apple cover. I change it quite often for reviews, but I always go back to the original after a while to test its durability over the long term. Probecause as we know from the past, especially from our experience with FineWoven covers, the days of "indestructible" covers are over. I stillonelong thought that a new venture in the form of a TechWoven cover could restore the tarnished reputation Apple covers to fix, however, this time it is not "the real deal".
Honestly, when Apple TechWoven showed the covers and I met them in person for the first time, I was excited about them. First of all, I really like the synthetic knit on the back, secondly, the cover looks quite interesting and, most importantly, it holds really well, especially thanks to the rubber on the sides. Compared to a transparent cover, it doesn't slip in your hand at all and overall you get the feeling that it can really protect the phone. In addition, the cover earned plus points in the first weeks and months of use for the fact that it was easy to clean with a damp cloth and, what's more, it wasn't even needed very often, since dirt stuck to it. minilittle by little.
However, I've been using the TechWoven cover for about half a year now, and it's taken its toll on me. For example, it started to USB-C portThe rubber coating is slightly peeling off, even though I charge the phone practically only wirelessly and therefore I hardly interfere with the port area. Upon closer inspection, you can't help but notice, for example, that the edge of the Power Button on the side of the device is losing its varnish and the silver metal is starting to shine through the dark green jacket. What I'm perhaps most disappointed about is that the edges of the cover - specifically the area around the joint between the back and side - are starting to darken a bit and it's completely impossible to clean.
Of course, I know that covers are de facto consumer goods, but on the other hand, I think that with a cover for 1790 CZK, one wants to see first-class quality and condition for as long as possible. And although it is true that compared to the FineWoven cover, the condition of the TechWoven cover is significantly better after half a year of use, when I think back to the past and the leather that I really liked to use at the time, I did not encounter similar things. Yes, the leather developed a patina over time, but in the end it gave the cover more personality than a feeling of wear. On the other hand, I almost want to say that leather was actually quite possibly the only "proper" material that could Apple to use for covers in a way that their quality makes sense. ProFor example, with silicone covers, sooner or later you will encounter "peeled" edges that are not matte but shiny, and I have also witnessed downright cracked edges with peeling rubber.
In my opinion, TechWoven is superior in quality to FineWoven and actually to Silik.onem, however, on the skin, whose place they are trying to replace with these "premiums" Apple long-term fill, still does not have. And it is a shame, because this type of cover certainly has potential. So let's be surprised whether these ailments Applu will lead to the future solution and FineWoven will be the new leather.
