Apple Maps is v iOS 26 will move to a higher level again. According to new findings in beta system version coming soon two yet unannounced features, which are intended to significantly improve search while protecting iPhone from overheating while navigating.
Searching "the way you speak" thanks Apple Intelligence
A new feature called "Search the Way You Talk" will allow users to search for places in Apple Maps in natural language. Instead of entering an exact address or business name, you can type, for example, "best cafes with free Wi-Fi" - and the application will offer relevant results. Apple Intelligence has already introduced similar searches to apps like Photos and Music. Introducing this style of search to Maps is another step towards making them more user friendly and more efficient.
According to developer Steve Moser, who posted the information on network X, this function is located in the code iOS 26, although it is not yet publicly available. If confirmed, this will be a significant improvement in the everyday use of the app when searching for restaurants, services or points of interest.
Smarter temperature management while navigating
The second new feature discovered is a feature that is supposed to help prevent iPhone overheating during navigation. So far Apple Maps used to keep the display on all the time so that directions were always visible. But now Maps will be able to turn off the display – allowing the device to cool down more effectively.
This change will be especially appreciated by users who use navigation in a car, where the phone is mounted on the dashboard and is charging at the same time. It is in such an environment that overheating most often occurs, which can lead to device slowdowns or limited functionality.
While the thermal management feature has already appeared in older versions, according to some users iOS (including iOS 18), smart search is not yet available. Let's hope that both new features will appear in the official version soon. iOS 26, or in one of the following updates.
