I believe that if I buy something that I need accessories for in the future, it's always better to buy it from a reputable brand. It's unlikely that Philips will suddenly stop making replacement heads for their toothbrushes.care or that you suddenly won't be able to buy coffee capsules from Nespresso. When DualSense came out Edge as a premium controller from Sony for the PS5, I didn't hesitate and we reached for it. Although it is four times more expensive than the standard one, in addition to a few extra features compared to the normal controller, it also has replaceable stick modules, which Sony offers for €25 as a replacement accessory.

Since the DualSense suffers from a so-called drifting problem, where after a certain period of time the controller stick starts to move in games without you touching it, it seemed more sensible to have a premium controller and replace the stick for €25 every now and then, rather than always changing a new controller, which costs around €60. When the stick on my DualSense broke after about a year Edge, I went online as usual, thinking I would order a new one. To my surprise, I found out that the stick is officially sold for €25, but the vast majority of sellers want €40 for it. That's already a price close to the price of a classic controller, but damn it.

Unfortunately, no retailer in the Czech Republic/Slovakia has it in stock, not even the largest ones. Fortunately, I have no problem ordering goods for a friend in Austria and I often order from the USA from Amazonand so we went first to Amazon and found out that they didn't have the joystick there either. So that left my Austrian friend, who I can order directly from the official Sony e-shop, where they also have the joystick for the 25€. Unfortunately, they don't. The joystick hasn't been available anywhere in the world for several months now, and if anyone has it at home, they're asking for a staggering amount of money on eBay for it. So the next time someone promises you that the biggest advantage of their product is that you can easily replace parts that have problems, be very careful about who they are and what they promise you. I've already learned my lesson and I know that even a company like Sony doesn't have to offer accessories for its new, only about a year old products, and you can have a 200€ controller on your shelf at home and watch it gather dust, while you have to buy a new, ordinary controller for 60€.
