3D printing has experienced a meteoric rise in popularity and usability over the past few years. While relatively recently it was primarily a hobby for geeks, thanks to the increasingly available 3D printers in combination with technological progress, more and more people are starting to use this technology, and to an increasing extent also companies. And not just any. Since this year, 3D printing has been used by, for example, Apple in the production of its products.

It is not so long ago that we are talking about the use of 3D printing in the production of new ones Apple products were first heard from the mouth of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. If you still doubted the veracity of this information at the time, then know that you did not need to. A few hours ago, the deployment of this new production process was confirmed by the very well-informed reporter Mark Gurman from the agency Bloomberg, according to which thus Apple manufactures chassis for some upcoming models Apple Watch Series 9. The reason is very simple – miniLow material consumption compared to traditional metal machining on CNC machines combined with lower time requirements.
ProThe process of manufacturing a chassis using 3D printing consists of two steps, according to Gurman. The first step is to roughly print the chassis using powdered metal, and the second is to press this chassis using heat in molds into its final shape. The watch body created in this way is then of course processed by milling and the like to achieve the best possible result, but not nearly as much material is milled off as in conventional CNC production.

As for the models that use the 3D printing process, according to Gurman, this is how they produce them Apple steel Apple Watch with the intention of expanding production to include titanium models in the future. 3D printing is then to be used minialmost the last three years just trying minireduce the production costs of products associated with unnecessarily large amounts of waste. It is therefore possible that soon we will have not only 3D printers printed Apple Watch, but also iPhones, iPads or Macs.
