The Govee RGBICW Night Light is really capable of a lot. Although the lamp is mainly aimed at children, parents will also easily like it. In addition to useful functions that help them fall asleep, including the combination of audio and visual elements, it works very well as a Bluetooth speaker and, in conjunction with the Govee app, Home available for iOS i Android the possibilities expand even further, which is why it can also wake up, turn on and off according to a set schedule or trigger various effect modes. The little ones will also come in handy with the playful Gaming Mode or synchronization with music, when the light reacts flexibly and fun to the sound.
What can we find in the package?
In a not very large blue box with children's motifs, the lamp itself takes up most of the space. On the side we find another thin box, which contains the charging base with aoneUSB-C port and the rest of the space is for the charging cable and USB charger along with documentation, including a multilingual user manual, an enclosed Czech manual, a picture guide for children in 5 world languages and a small card with technical support contacts and a QR code to download the Govee application. Home.
Commissioning and use
In this case, commissioning is maxIt's really simple. Basically, you just need to unpack the individual componenty, use the included cable to connect the charger to the base and then place the lamp on it.
It starts charging immediately, and unlike the other controls, the on/off button is located on its back. On the front, the first thing you can do is control the sound using a round button with the “play” symbol, which starts or pauses playback, whether it’s built-in sound effects or music from a smartphone or other Bluetooth device. Next in line is the “minus” symbol, which is used to decrease the volume or, if you hold it down, the brightness. In the middle, we find a switch between preset scenes and solid colors, while a long press is required to select the modes, for at least three seconds, while short presses are used to scroll. The next “plus” button works on the same principle, only the opposite of the “minus”, which intensifies the volume and brightness. Last in line on the front panel, you can find the control for “Music Mode" represented by two notes, through which you can browse individual sound effects or start playing music from the library if the lamp's speaker is currently connected to a phone, tablet, or similar.
When it comes to the list of adjustable functions, it might seem that this is all, but two rather important buttons are located on the bottom of the device. The first is used to pair the Bluetooth speaker, with a classic long press to start the pairing process and a short press to connect the Bluetooth audio turns on or off. Connection is quick and hassle-free. The second button allows you to switch to sleep mode with a short press and to the aforementioned Gaming Mode with a long press.
With the Govee app Home
As already mentioned, the Govee app Home provides access to a number of functions in a clear and simpler way than the physical control itself can offer. After installation, you will be prompted to register and immediately a clear interface will be available to you, unfortunately only in English, with which you can easily pair the Govee RGBICW Night Light. There is also the option of remote control, if you enter the access data to your home network. In the application header, the Device section, you will then see your device, which in my case is reported as H6057_ACE1 and can be turned on or off without clicking. Pro To access individual parameters, simply tap on the lamp icon, which will bring up the entire menu. The “Lab Effect” item offers a huge number of interestingly arranged color shades, “Timer”, as the name suggests, provides timing for individual switching cycles, switching off and the alarm function. Furthermore, there are two sliders arranged one below the other for controlling volume and brightness, followed by a set of larger icons labeled “Music" for music control, "Color" for choosing a color again with two practical sliders to help you find the right shade, "Scene" provides a selection of pre-recorded sound and lighting effects, cleverly divided into categories such as Funny Sleep, Natural, etc., "DIY" allows you to adapt the lamp's behavior to selected conditions and create shortcuts, and there is "Game", a selection of 4 different children's games that respond to touch.
Some technical data or what else Night Light can do?
As mentioned at the beginning, this is a small device, but it has big possibilities. It is certainly worth mentioning the support for voice control. Google Assistant, Alexa and through shortcuts Siri. The light source boasts a lifespan of 50 hours and an integrated 000 mAh battery. In total, the user has 3000 color modes and 54 white noise sound samples to help induce sleep. You will also be pleased with the fact that no bridge is required for operation.
Impressions and price
The biggest benefit of the Govee RGBICW Night Light is its versatility. It can serve as a pleasant, discreet room lighting, a handy helper for inducing sleep, a fun toy for children and a practical Bluetooth speaker. In terms of lighting intensity, the lamp is surprisingly powerful for a device of such modest dimensions. The sound quality is not dazzling, but on audiofily this device is definitely not aimed at. The impression of listening to music is somewhat flat, but for streaming fairy tales or podcasts, which Night Light directly invites, the reproduction quality is quite sufficient. Govee RGBICW Night Light does not play the role of an adult light, it will mainly please children's hearts, which is why many of its functions are adapted to it, including some visual effects and melodies. If you want to please your children and at the same time have a practical all-rounder in your household, on which you can listen tochat popular podcasters, but at the same time children will have fun with it and will not be afraid of monsters under the bed in the evening, then the Night Light from Govee is the ideal solution. With a price slightly below 3, it is not one of the cheapest, but given the range of functions and possible uses, such a price tag does not seem to be inadequate. The amount for which you can buy a comparable lamp without some specific functions will definitely be above the thousand crowns mark, and so will an average Bluetooth speaker. If we add the very decent workmanship, which assumes that it will be not only a functional device, but also a toy in children's hands, the Night Light comes out very well.
