My very first product from the workshop Applu was a PowerMac G4, which was later joined by the first iPod shuffle. It was on the PowerMac G4, which was already quite an archive item by then, that I started writing LsA. When Apple in 2007 he introduced the first iPhone, I basically had noancI tried this rarity for a few minutes, but I never thought I would own it. The first product with iOS, which wasn't even called that back then iOS, was the first generation iPod touch. You can read its story in the article Memories of the first iPod touch and the arrival App Store. I then used for a long time BlackBerry and the first iPhone, which I got and started actually using as my primary phone was then iPhone 4.

iPhone 2g

Only now, 16 years later, did I discover a rather interesting offer in which someone was selling three functional first-generation iPhones, which are often also referred to as iPhone 2g. The price was more than tempting so I decided to buy my first one after 16 years. iPhone. The first thing I have to praise is the fact that the seller did not lie and three working iPhones from 2007 actually arrived at my home and even their condition matched the photos and description. On all phonesonech runs iOS 3.1 (7C144), which was the highest iOSwhich the first generation of phones from Applu supported. Of course, the pieces I bought are not rare. Those really rare pieces must not only have no damage, but they must ideally run the first version of the operating system.

What is unbelievable to me from today's point of view is the fact that nothing so fundamental has changed in those 16 years. In short, the phones basically always look the same, and you can find your way around the menu or individual applications without any problems. Maybe it's because I used this system daily on the aforementioned iPod, but after all, that was over ten years ago, so it's not about memories. It's about being Apple It simply sticks to its principles and they remain the same. Just like the volume, you always change it on the left side and the only thing that has actually changed in terms of the layout of the controls is the Power Button, which has moved from the top of the phone to the right. I was completely scared by the huge hole on the top of the phone, and it even flashed through my mind for a few thousandths of a second what it was actually for. Fortunately, I quickly realized that it was a 3,5mm jack konewho, but honestly, I'd bet that when I saw him a long time ago AirHe used Pods, so it was definitely smaller.

The speed is unbelievable. Yes, it's true that everything is in a significantly lower resolution, both in terms of actual resolution and pixel density, but it's still 15 years old and the phone responds to some things almost as quickly as iPhone, which you have in your pocket right now or are reading this article on. The biggest difference in speed is of course the internet, which is almost or rather completely unusable these days. Developers simply cannot optimize their websites for a 15-year-old phone, so you won't even Apple.com doesn't load as it should. The second biggest difference in speed is the iPhone 14 Pro a iPhone from 2007 I see in launching the camera and in general in working with the gallery and photos. There it is clearly visible that the performance of the original iPhone It was just enough for the photo shoot, and even then Apple it didn't even offer the ability to record video, but only take photos. In addition, it may occur to you that you will not find nearly as many options in the camera application as today, but that you will not find a single one here, I confess that I did not think of it and I did not even remember it. Indeed it is, the camera application offers a shutter release and the ability to quickly switch to the gallery, that's the end of it. Among the elements that I miss in terms of control, I would mention the option to wake the phone by tapping the most, otherwise there is basically nothing that would make the phone control any worse than it is now, that is, perhaps except for multitasking, which this model could not do, so it was necessary to turn off the application and turn on the other one.

Although Safari doesn't work much anymore, so the internet is still available, so I looked into App Store. I honestly had no idea that Apple still supports the old version App Store, which is completely functional. So unfortunately not for iPhone s iOS 3.1, with which no application is compatible, but App Store As such, it is functional. As for applications, unfortunately those that depend on third-party services and whose providers have changed over the years do not work. So YouTube does not work (the YouTube application was originally part of iOS), the Weather, whose data was provided by Yahoo, does not work, and the stock overview does not work either, because it also took its data from Yahoo. On the other hand, what pleasantly surprised me was the fact that Google Maps, i.e. the application Maps, which was essentially an interface that displays the data from Google Maps. It still works and you can check the latest map data, which is definitely great. Of course, applications such as messages, calendar, photos, camera, notes, clock, calculator, settings, contacts, voice memos, in fact all pre-installed applications including email and calls work without problems. Only the iTunes application crashed for some reason.

Perhaps the funniest thing from today's perspective is Settings, where there are literally 13 items in the main menu. Today, there are iOS 16.2 you will find 50 and that's not counting settings for third-party applications, but really just the items he added to the menu over the years AppleThe system has indeed bloated enormously, but it is clear that this was necessary due to the new features that the current iPhones bring. On the other hand, it is not possible to argue much with those who claim that products from Applu clearer and more intuitive.

I am a threesome. iPhone He got the 2G for 2500 CZK including shipping, and even though it may be electronic waste for some, for me it's a pretty nice thing to have on the shelf, and also a bit of nostalgia. Even though I didn't have iPhone, we had an iPod touch with the same system and it's nice to reminisce sometimes. As soon as there's a little sunshine outside, I'll run outside with iPhone from 2022 and from 2007, to pit them against each other in a photo test. Yes, of course it will be more fun than a test that would have significant informative value, but I myself am interested in how big a part the camera is in iPhone offended for an incredible 15 years.
