The sources of the Taiwanese portal Economic Daily News managed to find out that Apple has agreed with its long-time mobile processor supplier, TSMC, to produce 5G modems designed by Qualcomm. Samsung used to manufacture these for it, but given the need for more modern manufacturing technology for the new generation and the fact that Samsung is one of its main competitors Applu, the Californian giant chose TSMC instead. The new 5G modems are to be manufactured using the 6nm manufacturing process, the “support” of which the company announced only last year, which will ensure better energy efficiency and, in other words, lower power consumption, which logically will affect the durability of the phone itself. The new generation of modems is also to provide iPhones with support for WiFi 6E, an improved WiFi 6 standard with higher speed and lower latency.
