The head of Czech Television, Petr Dvořák, would apparently like to create some kind of competition for Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+ a HBO MaxThe merger of the archives of domestic television stations (iPrima, Voyo and iVysílání) is being considered in order to create a joint video library that would attract viewers mainly to original Czech content.

Petr Dvořák in an interview for a magazine Euro, later cited on the website Mediař.cz he said that he has been thinking about something similar for some time, and is currently discussing this topic with Prima boss Mark Singer, who admitted that such a solution is really a long shot. There is currently no discussion on this topic with Nova TV. As we mentioned above, the vision of this project is to have archives of domestic television under "one roof". As a bonus, viewers could then come across online premieres. This would be, for example, a similar solution as in the case of Britbox, where the public BBC and commercial ITV are located, or Hulu operating in the USA. If we look at this idea from a distance, we can quite often hear criticism of foreign video streaming services that they do not have enough content with Czech dubbing in their portfolio, which "Czechflix" would solve without a problem. But would there be such quality content for which the viewer would be willing to pay? What do you think would be an acceptable price?
Classics. If Nova isn't there, it will be useless. And those fools should have thought about this five years ago, today it's too late.
You, you idiot. So what have you built in those 5 years? I'm guessing nothing at all. ProYou'll be more successful at it. Dude.
I pay for HBO, Netflix and I buy a lot of movies on iTunes, but I can't legally watch the classics with Belmond, Funes, Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, Pierre Richard, etc., so I take every opportunity.
I'm wondering if it's better to buy the few classics on DVD/BD or settle for watching them when they're on TV because they keep repeating them anyway. But it depends on the price. 50 ducks probably wouldn't kill anyone, 250 probably wouldn't make many people want to pay.
Will there be the same amount of commercials as in classic terrestrial TV?
A person pays 135 crowns in concession fees, even if he does not watch CT at all, just because he has a television at home. Now it is enough for them to charge 135 crowns for having internet at home.
I understand trying to make money from everything, but I think stations that are subsidized by advertising should give this "exclusive" content automatically 😅
