It might seem that the digital age is slowly but surely killing classic print media. The truth is that classic paper magazines and newspapers are slowly receding into the background, but digitization has brought one huge advantage, which is the worldwide availability of entire volumes of magazines and newspapers, which we did not have access to in the past. Do you have a cold weekend ahead of you and don't know what to do with your free time? How about trying to flip through all the issues of foreign magazines that you haven't been able to get to until now for various reasons?

A wonderful archive

The Internet Archive is a great place to find all sorts of treasures from the past. It is a vast digital archive that aims to provide the public with access to a huge number of archived websites, as well as multimedia content and software. With a little bit of skill, you can view the website here, for example Applu from the time the first was introduced iPhone, try to find your old blog from your high school days, or try to flip through the legendary issue of MacWorld magazine where you pose Steve Jobs with the first Macintosh in history. The Internet Archive's offerings are constantly growing, mainly thanks to enthusiasts who advocate for a free and open Internet for all.

Virtual browsing

As we mentioned in the introduction, today's article will be focused on that part of the internet archive, which makes digitized editions of all possible magazines and newspapers available to the public. The archived print section can be found on the page The Magazine RackIt is essentially a virtual shelf with a generously comprehensive selection of magazines of all kinds, genres, ages and origins, clearly sorted by topic and date of publication. ProYou can either browse the extensive archive randomly by simply clicking through the cover previews on the main page, or you can play it safe. If you are looking for a specific issue of a specific magazine from a specific year and in a specific language, use the powerful search tools and filters that you can find in the column on the left of the main cover preview screen - after clicking on each of the filters, you will see a wider range of criteria. However, please note that loading additional criteria may sometimes take a little longer. If you would like to browse, for example, the aforementioned MacWorld with Jobs on the cover, after clicking on the cover page of the magazine, you will see its digitized version, while at the bottom of the window you will find all the control tools. After reading, you can go back to all issues of the magazine MacWorld.
