Autumn is the time when a whole range of recordings are released. Some have something to say, others openly want to get something out of the approaching Christmas. There is plenty to choose from this year as well, although the music industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus. Here are some tips for albums that appeared on Apple Music.

Album for the cat

John Frusciante - Maya

Although John Frusciante is best known as the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, his solo albums are also worth paying attention to. In them, he expresses everything that didn't fit into his home band (or perhaps he realized himself through them when he wasn't playing in RHCP). The raging rage and the teahouse tenderness, the desire to experiment to the limit, are all part of the song.chatThis year's eleventh album was dedicated to his cat Maya, who recently passed away. Compared to his previous albums, he added electronics and broken beats, and he still manages to surprise: for example, when in the song Flying it sounds as if he ProThey connected digy with Aphex Twin. And each song contains similar surprises.

The Boss is back

Bruce Springsteen - Letter to You

There are few certainties in the music industry, but one of them is that any new Springsteen album will be received miniwith interest, rather with enthusiasm. This also applies to his twentieth studiovku Letter to You, which we can without hesitation rank among the best albums of 2020. Springsteen is a classic who sets the bar damn high and when he's not good at composing, he'd rather take a break than sweat over bills. That's exactly the case with Letter to You, which he took his time with, but then managed to record with the E Street Band in a few days with elegancIt's natural and only for him. Interestingly, in addition to new songs, Springsteen also returned to a few pieces from the beginning of his career that didn't fit on his 1973 debut.

More than a political gesture

Midnight Oil - The Makarrata Project

For eighteen long years, fans of Australian rock band Midnight Oil have been waiting for a new album. They've finally gotten it, and it's definitely not your average album. The Makarrata Project is part album, part political proclamation. But not in a spasmodic way, Midnight Oil have always been close to politics and have managed to express it with a sense of both gesture and art. On The Makarrata Project we will find a diverse range of guests from among the ranks of indigenous Australian musicians and it is possible that many Central European listeners will hear some elements of Australian ethnic music here for the first time. Part of the earnings from the Midnight Oil album are donated to organizations dedicated to the equality and compensation of Australian indigenous people.

Get out of Iceland

Jónsi - Shiver

Sigur Rós is one of the most famous Icelandic musicians of the last two decades. Their music exactly matches the romantic ideas of Iceland. All you have to do is close your eyes and you can see the grassy plains, the dark rocks and the cold wind on your skin. Frontman Jónsi is now coming with his second solo album and will probably surprise the fans. Compared to the ten-year-old debut, he added electronics, variety and, why not say it, accessibility. The very fact that the singers Robyn or Liz Fraser from the Cocteau Twins are guests to him suggests that Jónsi gave vale to the evocation of Icelandic isolation and set out to meet new soundscapes.

A cute discovery

Boy Pablo - Wachito Rico

Young songwriter Boy Pablo is not very well known in our country. It's no wonder, the half-Chilean, half-Norwegian has so far scored mainly on the specific Nordic alternative scene, from which he has gradually penetrated the airwaves of Anglo-American indie radio. His music is playful, sometimes cute, sometimes melancholic.ancholická, the singer's image of the boy next door only underlines all this. If there is a cheerful, delicate pop for demanding listeners hungry for discoveries, Boy Pablo is its personification. If we are lucky and we manage to get the coronavirus under control soon, Boy Pablo will perform at the Futurum club in Prague on March 7, 2021. Even if the concert is moved to another date, don't miss it. Just like this album.
