Commercial message: Smartphones are considered by many people to be fragile pieces of electronics that cannot withstand any rough handling or harsh conditions. However, the truth is that many smartphones have no problem with rough handling, as they are de facto constructed like tanks - i.e. highly durable. One such piece is the CAT S42, which we will take a closer look at in the following lines.
Although it is an Android phone, it definitely deserves a place in our magazine due to its parameters. It is one of the kings of rugged phones today. The phone offers a 5,5” IPS display with a great resolution of 1440 x 720, a Mediatek MT6761D chipset, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot with a capacity of up to 128 GB. As for its “durable properties”, this is the thinnest durable phone in the world. Its thickness is a very pleasant 12,7 mm with a height of 161,3 mm and a width of 77,2 mm. The S42 boasts IP68 certification, thanks to which it is resistant to dust and water up to 1,5 meters. Thanks to its relatively robust body, the phone can withstand repeated falls to the ground from a height of 1,8 m, which is definitely not a small feat. You don’t have to worry too much about damaging the display either – the phone has a Gorilla Glass 5 display, which is highly resistant to scratches.ancand damage caused by a fall.
Battery life is also very important for rugged phones. CAT did an excellent job with this too, as the 4200 mAh battery allows the phone to last for two full days of heavy use, which is by no means a small amount. Of course, with less intensive use, you can get even better values. So if you are looking for a phone that you can really rely on always and everywhere, you have just found it.
