From the show iOS 14 is now more than 24 hours away, during which most of us have been able to properly absorb most of its news. Those who are less patient then immediately started to read it. beta testing that Apple launched almost immediately after the end KeynoteOf course, we in the editorial office couldn't help butchat test new iOS we installed it on our iPhones right after it was released Apple released the relevant update. Thanks to this, we can now say that we have been actively using it for almost a full day and therefore we have been able to get a fairly good picture of it. So what is it like? iOS 14 is in the 1st beta and is it worth upgrading to it?

Prothere are practically no problems

By far the most common question I get about iOS 14 I've personally heard in the last few hours is whether there are any bugs in it that make it impossible to use the phone normally. I can say for myself that I haven't encountered a single major bug on the iPhone XS that would at least partially fulfill the concerns above. Perhaps all the basic functions that I've tested so far run completely reliably and, most importantly, really fast - it feels even faster than on the last version iOS 13. I must praise Apple also for battery life, which has been a nightmare in previous years beta testers. It doesn't drop rapidly for me, quite the opposite. With standard use of the phone, I had about 20% more battery this afternoon than I did yesterday with the same use on iOS 13. So optimization doesn't seem bad to me in any way.

You don't have to worry about using third-party apps, which are of course the alpha and omega of iPhones. I tried a lot of them during the day and I didn't encounter any compatibility issues or similar issues with any of them. Even the banking apps – specifically ČSOB and Fio – run without any problems, which I tried in the first beta last year. iOS 13 could not say. I am absolutely delighted, honestly, with the still smooth cooperation between my Apple Watch a iPhonem. While last year I had to accept that notifications from my iPhone didn't go to my watch during the first betas, this year everything works perfectly smoothly. To be honest, I didn't really believe it and tested incoming notifications until last night to see if it was working. And thank God, it isn't.

Functionally, the news is still a bit faltering...

Although the previous lines probably sounded like I was iOS 14 absolutely thrilled, the truth is that I was a little disappointed by a few things. The first is the non-functionality of some of the new features, led by Picture in Picture, which Apple announced with great fanfare yesterday. Unfortunately, neither me nor my colleague is running the function /or at least we haven't figured out how to get it running/ and therefore I think she will have to Apple just added to the system. Another thing is a slight stutter when editing widgetwhich cannot be described as a particularly complicated operation, but it is still not 100%. I also find it quite strange that the adjustable widgetThere are quite a few of them yet. Sure, I understand that the developers didn't have iOS 14 access until yesterday and therefore could not prepare their applications for it. On the other hand, for example, Shazam, which has been owned for quite a long time AppleAfter all, he could offer some customization at the start. Fortunately, these are all things that can be fixed without major problems.

… but they will entertain you

These are the ones mentioned above. widgety, which I have spent the most time exploring and modifying so far. Many of you will probably want to stone me now, but I can say for myself that I am very happy about this new feature, because I think it is simply great. Customization Home It will take your iPhone screen to a new level and will definitely increase your productivity on your iPhone – that is, of course, if you learn to use them correctly. The great thing is that widgety are not just silly pictures displayed on the phone's screen, but interactive inputs to applications that display various data in real time, for which you simply open them to clarify. S widgetYou can play around with both the shape and scrolling, when on one hand widgetSeveral different locations can be added widgetand then scroll between them. So definitely thumbs up for this, it's an excellent solution.

I was also very pleased with the new Application Library - that is, a place where applications of the same focus are automatically grouped into different sections, which is great for your orientation. This library works de facto as a kind of hidden folder into which you can "throw" all the application ballast that you don't use, but for some mysterious reason you still believe that one day its moment will come, and you simply have peace of mind from it. Someone will probably object that the same thing could be done with folders up until now, but the application library feels like something completely different and has its own charm. In addition, the entire system this year is based a lot on various lists and overviews, which makes it perfectly searchable. So any kind of filing is now friendlier than ever. What I personally really liked about the Application Library is that everything is sorted into categories automatically, and it must be noted that, at least in my case, quite correctly. However, I have already read on the discussion forums that not everyone's ranking works as expected, so at least with bets you have to take this into account.

They handle quite a lot of different calls every day, which I often pick up even when I'm playing with something on the phone. I was even more pleased with the new feature in the form of a reduced interface for incoming call notification, which has a pleasant impression and, above all, allows you to complete all the actions in progress in the given application before you pick up the call. It should be noted that Apple In this regard, it does not push the saw at all and allows users to deactivate call notification with a smaller slide-out panel, just as it does not force them to use it. widgetand other similar things. In iOS So, 14 is something that everyone will find their own.

It is a good deal?

So if I had to summarize my feelings about the beta... iOS 14 after about a day of testing, I would rate it very positively. I don't feel any limitations when using it and I can honestly imagine that I would be able to operate on such a system without major repairs for several more months. On the other hand, it would be a mistake to think that it is beta absolutely perfect, because at least according to foreign discussion forums, some bugs appear in it from time to time. However, these are common with similar things, it is simply impossible to guarantee that they will be in your beta or not. This is, to put it mildly, a small bet on the lottery, the outcome of which is uncertain. However, it seems that even a bad result is not crazy. So if you have something to test iOS 14 taste and are willing to try a little in terms of error rate at worst, don't be afraid of installation.
