American Mike Hughes was a rocket builder and the man who claimed the Earth was flat. At first he said that he was building rockets for this purpose, so that he could see the "flatness" of the planet with his own eyes. He later backtracked on that claim, saying he was building the rockets to fly up to 100 kilometers above the Earth's surface. But his last flight turned out to be fatal. Unfortunately, he died in a self-built steam rocket with which he wanted to reach a height of 1500 meters.
