ProThe smartphone industry has reached its peak. At least that's what research agency Gartner claims. Shipments will fall by 68 million units this year, or 3,8%. However, the decline has a longer-term trend. While in 2015 the number of shipments was 1,9 billion, this year it should be "only" around 1,7 billion. Total sales are said to fall by 2,5%. The fact that people are changing their phones less often due to their increasingly high performance is also to blame. This popular segment should see a slight improvement next year. However, such analyses should always be viewed with a certain amount of skepticism.
