If there is anything from the workshop Applu has been called a huge mistake practically from the moment it was released, these are undoubtedly its Apple Maps. Even after years of improvements, they cannot be practically compared to the competition, as they do not offer nearly as many options as, for example, Google Maps or Waze. And now Google has taken advantage of this mess Applu to its advantage and promotes its recently introduced smartphone through itone Pixel 3a, which pushes thanks Google Maps in navigation into your pocket even more than twice as expensive “Phone "X" with his Apple Maps, behind which, of course, nothing else is hidden, but iPhone X or XS.

In a short commercial, Google bets on navigation in augmented reality, which should play a leading role in its maps in the future and should make our lives much easier. Navigating according to markers in a real environment will be much more pleasant for many users than navigating on a classic map, which is usually slightly delayed. However, nothing like this should happen in AR navigation. And since it is Apple Maps hasn't learned (yet), Google immediately exploited this weakness. What about the fact that AR navigation will also be available on iOS and it will not be a problem to use it on the “Phone X”.
This is what they look like Google Maps v CarPlay:
This is the second such piece by Google in the last few days. However, in the earlier video, Google did not point to bad Maps, but to poor quality photos in low light conditions. It should be noted that iPhones have had quite a few problems with them practically since time immemorial, although their quality improves slightly every year. However, due to the absence of a third lens and various software improvements to improve the quality of night photos, it still loses to the competition. But that could change already this fall. It is precisely the cameras that are supposed to play a role in this year's iPhones, and in all situations.
By doing so, Google only shows its very low level :))) Google is undoubtedly the best when it comes to search and maps. That ends it. Insulting the competition and what's more in campaigns has always been one of the bad qualities - simply Google
Here it is written about Phone X not iPhone X :) It doesn't point to anyone in particular :)
..., but they are not insulting anyone, they are just jokingly pointing out real incompetence Apple make proper maps. Nothing more, nothing less. :-)
He does this and he does that... Apple it handles phones, Google has maps in its little finger (no debate for me), but you could as well Apple shoot from google phones… however, why? Exactly as it sounded here, it's down to earth and low... the wise will understand, the rest will ride on the super boom how amazingly it works. He who does not have hay in his head does not need to have a map on a golden tray.
What? Google, that it has the best maps? Where did you find that? Google maps, where you can't tell the buildings from the greenery? Cartographically completely inadequate. Only mapy.cz is good at this, where every element of the map is clearly visible. #1 mapy.cz #2 google maps # all others
I'd be more interested in the battery life :D
There is beauty in simplicity 😂
If someone doesn't hit according to Apple map then no one will help him anymore…..
Well, if you are with Apple Maps If you hit the mark at least 50% of the time, you are a very lucky person. That service is nothing but tragic.
So just me apple maps, 100% success always. :D
David: then you'll be better than Chuck Norris.
I remember how Apple after all the maps showed Berlin on the North Pole, Prazsky Hrad pointed to Strahov and had the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean interspersed.
If you can guess something like that, you're better than Columbus. Cooktogether
What is so tragic about those maps? I use them myself and have no problems.
Maybe nice for someone. But honestly, a small arrow on the display that would rotate (similar to a compass) as I turn a corner would be completely sufficient. Plus info on how many meters I have to go. What's the use of virtual reality when I can see it with my own eyes anyway?
Like I don't know, but like that google maps, they seem terribly slow to me, especially when you use them as navigation. You are supposed to turn right and the navigation tells you, after 50m turn right just as you pass the given turn.
That will be more of a device fault ;-) I use them regularly on my phone and in the car without any problems.
When I went somewhere according to Google Maps, I thought I was going to throw the phone away. The worst pedestrian navigation in the history of pedestrian navigation. Even in the car, it's weak.
circa
Well, if they want to play this, they should delete Google Maps from their app store, because otherwise I have those maps apple 😂😂 I still use waze
.. and who owns Waze?
Apple it doesn't have them, it's still owned by Google. It only allows users to use them Apple device. And it pays off very well.
Google? How honest I used to be google maps and not apple maps but last week. That display in google maps it's terrible during navigation. The same mistakes, a lot of "loopholes" on the route. Forget navigation. Maxcompletely unusable navigation.
Agreement
...yes, there are better navigations than GM, but AM is not really a coincidence. GM at least always finds a target and AM you have a 50% chance of finding nothing. I mean, it hits the city, yes, but what? :-)
I agree, I used once and tried “pedestrian” twice… no thanks. I will insist that anyone who has at least a little sense of direction will hit it on their own. I travel a lot, to foreign places within Europe and beyond, and I have never needed a navigation system - I blink and see... the destination is always found 🤛
Well, I don't really care. If you're a moron, you won't hit with any navigation.
I don't understand a bit when I have iphone and I have google maps on it.. so why buy some embarrassing pixel for that 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️😂
I use it freely apple maps and I've never had a problem, google maps they are definitely better, they have more options, but what's the use if they're slow, untuned and eat a lot of batteries...
In this case, Google is right. Apple maps of truth nestoh, I really don't care iPhone and on it Google Maps 😂. Maybe they are good in America, who knows.
the article is about navigation not about maps
I also tried everything possible and nothingoneI use HERE for my car and mapy.cz for my bike, which are simply great.
The article and google mapax and Pixel 3 and all of them write that Apple does it have better maps anyway or do they just use Google Maps on their iPhone... but somehow we get to the argument why iPhone ? ProSo you buy it, don't set anything up and enjoy... and I immediately notice that I've installed it. google maps…and so it could go on… as I like Apple it's okay, it's okay and sometimes google doesn't reach their ankles, but as it's the other way around, it's actually OK to borrow the apk from google... that is, the android publisher... Apple It's definitely good quality, but that's a portfolio which must ensure is so large that Google will always be ahead...
What's wrong with me? iPhone I also like that I can use Google services as much as I want. Yes, Google Maps is definitely better and I also like Google Photos – thanks to this service I can have all my photos with me without having to subscribe to a higher capacity on icloudOtherwise, most of the functions and services are of course in iOS much better. :-P
Android users basically cannot install any program from Apple (with an exception, I guess Apple music).
Unfortunately they can't, but it's not Google's fault. I think it's pretty self-conscious that Google allows installation on iPhone, on the contrary, what Apple are they afraid they won't allow other platforms to do the same?
I agree. That's how it works for me Apple they're just worried about their customers ;)
Proit does not offer its services to competitors.
Yes, every company is worried about its customers. If Google didn't have access to its services that users use on competing platforms, it wouldn't provide applications to other people either.
Mirek77 is right. Apple he sells products (HW+SW) and makes a living from it, it is not in his interest to support the HW and SW of others and thus cannibalize his own sales.
Google makes a living from advertising - it allows others to use information about their users and makes a living from it. Google will take up residence wherever it can collect more and more data, even on a competing platform, because Google has nothing to fear, product sales are not important either, they are only afraid of not being able to profile users.
This navigation will be great on some smart glasses. But within the current possibilities, I would rather prefer navigation from Applu. I would like to hold my phone normally close to my body and watch with one eye where I should go, rather than holding it in front of me like a fool and pointing the lens at the entire street so that the "magic AR" can show me an arrow.. :-D
Google should not brag about navigation. Maps are OK, but Google's navigation is terrible!
I'm alive. nesthello there AppI wish the navigation would point me to the left and the voice would say right. That's almost a rule with Google at least once a trip. It doesn't inform about lanes, warns about turns late or not at all, zooms out the map when a turning lane comes and you don't know where and what. ProAbsolutely disgusting.
Navigation is one of the things that I like about Android s.re.
Google happens to have perfect navigation. It's called Waze.
Waze. Cool. I was his promoter. This year I cursed it and deleted it. Forever. What he did to me on the way to Cortina was enough for me. Never more. Never.
What about Mapy.cz? I think they are better than Google and have a more detailed panorama.
Mapy.cz is the best service from Seznam. We can laugh at the browser, the News... but Maps are really the bomb.
I sent them several comments about the maps and they were always professional, they asked for details, it was done.
I read a story about how non-existent streets, airports, etc. are introduced into maps due to copying to prove plagiarism. I tried it and while there is one piece of crap in Google Maps that I put in a big city without any problems and it has existed there happily for 6 years and thousands of people must have noticed it, it didn't pass the check in the List :)
So I don't know, but when I click info on who the map supplier is, it's TOMTOM, and that seems strange to me when the regiment of the world drives according to that.
The advertising company does what is its mission = it advertises itself, head-to-head style.
JJ maps that follow us even when you have everything turned off and you can't complain about the qualitychat you might come across a giant penis on the map.
There is hardly a day when I don't think about deleting their maps. How many times have I Apple the street/cp combination is probably from Austria-Hungary or something...
Apple it has unusable maps, it doesn't matter, I don't really have it because of the maps, I have navigation for that.
Apple I can't take pictures of the evening, it doesn't matter, I don't have it because of photography, I have a camera for that.
Apple after a few months it artificially reduces the performance, it doesn't matter what I need the performance for, I have a MAC for that.
Apple I can't ... it's okay, but it's fine Apple. :-)
Well, even my 20-year-old Siemens S6 could make calls...
so what, are you feeling better?
My sheep are completely stolen, live your wet dream that you have the best mobile phone in the world.
The rest of us have an Android where everything works as it should for half the money and I'll take an Apple. maxPerfect for a snack :-)
I only use Google's navi in my truck, I'm too lazy to use anything else appky, because there is no need. There is no place in Europe where I would have a major problem. I don't deal with the sound, it is permanently turned off. The only thing that is not quite ideal is traffic. I had Waze, it was probably good, nothing special, I didn't like the graphics. GM 95% reliability. On the phone BB KEYone. iOS I don't have it and I don't want to have it after the test, the system didn't appeal to me in any way. Reason number two: almost everyone else around me has it, and I'm bothered by the science people make of it. Meanwhile, half of the people are willing to buy a used phone just to have an apple. Just an overpriced toy, nothing more.
Don't blame iOS , they will never admit the truth, even if they know it well, they will always claim that iOS has better applications that Apple has better maps and Siri will always be better despite all professional tests and experience... people whose thinking ends at the phone's packaging and logo don't deserve to be explained anything, let alone convinced.
Is it just me who sees the terribly low contrast of the streets right now? google maps?
apple I have a bit of a problem with maps in the Czech Republic, it works quite well abroad, and I see a big advantage while driving in the car, where I set up navigation on my phone, put it down, and instructions about route changes etc. go to apple watch on the hand that I have on the steering wheel
