The Czech Telecommunications Authority has published the results of a three-criteria test on a defined mobile market on its website. The test included voice, SMS and data services provided over 2G, 3G and 4G networks. Based on these tests, the authority concluded that this market is suitable for regulation.

Following the results of the aforementioned test, the CTU carried out a preliminary analysis of the domestic mobile market, the aim of which was to assess whether there was one or more undertakings with significant market power. The CTU invited all three domestic operators – O2, T-Mobile and Vodafoneone – to comment on these preliminary conclusions. The office will evaluate the statement, publish it, and inform about further steps.

Inconvenient for us

The CTU could regulate the wholesale mobile market due to insufficient competition. It could be a price or other regulation, the exact form of which has not yet been published by the competent authority. However, according to him, there is so-called tacit collusion on the domestic market - this is a situation where operators have not concluded any agreement on a common course of action, but they act together in a manner that is disadvantageous for their customers.

O2 spokeswoman Lucie Jungamnnová for the Novinky server introducedthat although the operator does not agree with the CTU's approach, it positively perceives the fact that the office has noticed long-term structural problems, such as gray operators and SIM cards for friends and family members of state employeesancat.

Although domestic operators offer tariffs at high prices, one of them - T-Mobile - was among the first in the world to support eSIM for the new iPhones:

It's expensive in Prague – even in tariffs

Prices for mobile tariffs and for voice and data services are among the highest in the country, and Prague residents spend the most on mobile services - an average of 750 crowns per month. There are currently three main operators operating on the domestic market - T-Mobile, O2 and Vodafone.one, and about two hundred virtual operators. Recently, the prices for data tariffs were also commented on miniindustry aunt Marta Nováková (ANO), who stated that Czechs are to blame for expensive data because they use it little.

And what do you think about the prices of mobile tariffs in the Czech Republic? Do you find the prices reasonable, or do you think they are excessive and should be significantly reduced? Or what tariff is missing from the offer of domestic operators?
