Most people only know Elon Musk as the controversial but successful and imaginative tech enthusiast who helped launch Tesla, SpaceX or The Boring Company. Few, however, had the honor of looking into the private window of a well-known philanthropist and subsequently sharing this information with the world around. Elon himself revealed something about himself, something came to the surface by accident. We bring you information from behind the walls of Tesla's factories or about SpaceX's planned space programs in our articles almost every week. But what do we not know about Elon and his immediate surroundings?

1. Elon Musk was born and raised in South Africa
We know about Elon that he is fond of traveling and likes to visit exotic countries. However, did you know that this hobby is connected to his birthplace? Elon was born and spent his entire childhood in Pretoria, South Africa. He left the countryside only in 1988, when he turned 17 and decided to travel to Kingston, Canada for education. Subsequently, he also attended the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, where he received several doctorates. In addition to the desire for knowledge, he was driven from the countryside by the thought that he would have to undergo training in the military service there. It is because of this fact that Musk is known for his quote: "Who would want to be part of a fascist army?"
2. In real life, he is a very modest, humble and purposeful person
After leaving Africa, he worked at low-paying jobs, but even that didn't stop him from pursuing his dream of becoming a well-known researcher and innovator. from an early age he longed to colonize planets and participate in space exploration. It was precisely because of this fact that he was often the victim of bullying at school, which was not helped by his thin figure. Despite many recommendations to change the industry, he never gave up on his dream. During his studies, he even had no money at all and lived on one dollar a day, from which he had to provide meals at school. The beginnings in Canada were not a walk in the park for him either, as he worked as a cleaner in a boiler room, entitled to a miserable salary. He had to finish his projects right from the startancova alone, due to investors' mistrust. Years later, many investors came back to Elon with a request to participate in his projects, but it was too late.
3. Did you know that Elon's mother is a model?
Who would have thought that the mother of a well-known technological magician is not only a model, but also a nutritionist. Maye Musk is originally Canadian, but according to the example of her parents, she lived in other than the aforementioned South Africa or currently in the USA. During her modeling career, she appeared in many well-known magazines such as TIME, New York Post, Elle and many more. After Elon went back to Canada, she decided to follow in her son's footsteps, but she did not stop with her modeling career. Despite his advanced age, he still venuis photo modeling, her own business and presentations where she preaches about healthy nutrition as a nutritionist. However, you have to admit that he looks really good for his age (70 years).
There's a certain shape there, don't you think?
4. Artificial intelligence terrifies him
This point may sound a little pathetic when we consider that a person like Elon comes into contact with artificial intelligence quite often. All the more, however, we can be convinced of the fact that machine rebellion does not have to be just a futuristic scarecrow from sci-fi movies. Musk has already stated several times publicly that we are standing on the edge of an abyss into which artificial intelligence may one day throw us. He refers to this fact as the greatest potential threat to humanity. This opinion led him to found an organization known as OpenAI, which oversees the correct and careful development of artificial intelligence.
5. Where does Elon get the inspiration for the names of his projects?
Have you ever wondered where the names for products and individual programs or projects from the SpaceX or Tesla workshop come from? In Musk's case, the answer is very simple and perhaps somewhat expected. Some of them are selected directly by Elon, linking them with his favorite things. Can you guess what SpaceX's Falcon rocket got its name from? After all, based on the legendary Millennium Falcon spaceship from Star Wars. Another example would be the name Merlin referring to the fairy tale magician or the Boring Company's drilling machine called Godot. However, the most controversial name was given to models from Tesla. If you look at the names of electric cars only as innocent letters, you will not discover anything special. Well, if you arrange the individual model names in the form of S3XY, you will get the word SEXY. Elon started thinking about this fact long before the start of the production of vehicles, and in addition to the mentioned funny arrangement, several facts helped him in the appointment.
6. Elon is a huge fan of movies and series. He even starred in a few
Adherents of the series and film industry have certainly already encountered this fact. Elon makes no secret of the fact that he likes to fill his free time (which, by the way, is woefully little) by watching a movie or a few series episodes. You may be thinking that there is nothing interesting at this point, since almost every person watches movies and series. Elon Musk however, he is such a devoted fan of pop culture that he has starred in some blockbuster acts himself. If you've seen Iron Man 2, you probably noticed that he appeared in it for a few seconds. It's a scene where he and Tony Stark aka Iron Man exchange a few compliments from the technological sphere. We could also meet him in the Simpsons series, where he was the main character of the episode The Musk Who Fell to Earth. In addition to the aforementioned productions, he also appeared in the sitcom Teória Veľkého Tresk, Why Him, Machette Kills or Thank You For Smoking.
Interestingly, he played himself in almost every scene from the movie or series in which he appeared. Apart from the aforementioned Iron Man, we will return to the comic world for a while. As a big fan of the giant in the form of Marvel Comics, in addition to the MCU universe, he also liked the X-Men series. He liked the mutants in the film adaptation so much that he even named his own son after one of them. His name is Xavier, according to what we know Professora X.

7. What does a job interview at SpaceX look like with Elon himself?
Many companies use different methods for working sessions. Most people would expect a lot of weird and controversial questions from Elon, but in this case the head of Tesla, Boring Company and SpaceX is keeping a relatively straight face. In addition to scientific questions related to information related to work with technology, he is also interested in solving various riddles and logical puzzles. According to him, the most important thing is the ability to improvise and react quickly to unexpected twists and turns. As with himself, he is also strict with potential employeesancand applicants for a position in one of his companies. Could you answer the following questions?
- Have you ever worked on a seemingly intractable task? If so, how did you deal with this situation?
- What does the term composite mean?
- What do you consider to be your most difficult life decision?
- How would you characterize a null pointer?
- Imagine a rectangular beam that is stably fixed on only one side. At what point will it break when the load is gradually released?
- What do you consider to be the most important factor in your decision?
8. Work always comes first for Elon, but…
As it was already clear from the previous points, Elon Musk he is simply addicted to his work. During one week, he spends 100 hours working on projects, which is logically reflected in his free time. Because of this, he has become a master of multitasking over the years. He can solve several problems at once during a short period of time. Apart from that, however, he never forgets a good night's sleep, which he believes is the key to successful functioning throughout the day. But it is interesting that at the time of the increased production of Model 3 from Tesla, he slept on the couch in his own roomancElaria, as he said he did not have time to go home. The journey to work, a shower, breakfast and similar morning rituals would take up too much of his time, so he saw a simpler solution in spending the night on an uncomfortable piece of furniture.
During the period known as “Tesla Production Hell” Elon was forced to sleep on such a couch. His fans even spread out on several new sofas
Despite the great successes he achieved during the past year, he did not even think about possibly slowing down and reducing his plans. Success lies in unceasing dedication to what you do and especially to what fulfills you. For Elon, the driving engine is time with family, work on new projects and, of course, success with successful milestones.
9. He is the author of many bizarre but well-known expressions
Elon doesn't consider himself to be much of a speaker, but over the years many of his statements have come to people's attention. In addition to classic motivational quotes, he is also the author of several funny allusions. We have selected the most interesting ones for you:
“Failure is an inevitable fact. If you don't fail enough, you don't innovate enough."
"Any product that needs a manual is unnecessary."
"Life is too short for long-term envy."
“I would like to die on Mars. Just not during an explosion or impact."
"Starting a company is like baking cakes. You have to mix all the ingredients in the right proportion.'
“Everyone at Tesla works 20 hours a day. That's why I have to work 23 hours."
“When I started a company focused on the space program, they told me I was crazy. Today I'm crazy with space rockets.'
10. What do Elon Musk and Steve Jobs have in common?
Many people often compare these two pioneers in their fields and look for certain similarities. Although Steve was not in the same field as Elon, we could find some similarities. Steve Jobs he was an idealist and tried to see the light even in the darkest corners. Statements like "it's impossible" or "it can't be done" simply didn't exist for him. Elon tries to apply the same strategy, for whom Steve is one of the biggest role models. Both people always wanted to conquer the world of technology and bring people revolutionary products that opened the door to a futuristic world. There is no doubt that both men succeeded, albeit to different extents. Like Steve, Elon also receives a nominal salary of one dollar a year for his position at the head of the company. It was known about Jobs that he did not know how to communicate with people. Elon Musk he also does not belong to the group of people who belong to the pinnacle of interpersonal communication skills, but certainly not on the scale of Steve. Last but not least, there are the study results. Not one of them was an exemplary student, but despite this, they stuck to their values, which, even after numerous failures, eventually earned them sweet success and worldwide recognition.
It will again be a pain for the brothers from CZ to say it in Slovak :).
He is a translator.
I have not yet seen Slovaks downloading articles in the CZ language...
What will it be?
Could it be that on a Czech website one simply expects articles in Czech?
What makes you think it's a CZ website? According to .eu?
This is yours now. eurowell?
It is interesting that the headline is CZ and the article is SK :D
So it's not a problem for me, I live a short distance from Trenčín and I understand Slovaks well and I like them
Well, I mastered it without any problem even in the Slovak one
I recommend the book straight away. Elon Musk (Tesla, SpaceX and a fantastic future or something), there's more and in Czech :))
and it seems to me that what bothers people the most is that the headline is in CZ and the article is in SK... why?
It's so you can hang out here…
NestI'm laughing. I wonder why the editorial staff does this? I'm not surprised that the younger generation simply can't read Slovak anymore. But when they go to an article with a headline written in Czech...
You can tell by the fact that the site is called "Letum svetem" not "Letum svetem"
The title is not in Slovak, because some "backward" people wouldn't click, the kids don't understand Slovak anymore (don't they want to?)...
Remember the author of the Article Tomáš Varga. You can see the author on the opening page, so you don't have to click and cry that it's in Slovak. You are welcome
I have no problem with that, thanks for the interesting article.
I recently saw a map of the companies that they own or have a stake in. I really don't understand how one person can manage it (of course I understand that the fox has a share of attention, but it's not like having too big a house, right).
Overall, I would be interested in what problems he actually solves and how much time he manages to devote to his family. Overall, the person must have an interesting "framework" for effectiveness.
Pro For those who would like to understand Elon more and gain insight into his life, both from a work and personal perspective, I recommend the book by Ashley V.ance-Elon Musk.It is a very beneficial read for his fans.9
Hello, Slovenstina is cool, I like it, it's melodious. It's worse with the headline: "10 interesting facts about Elon Musk that you definitely didn't know about him". I'm surprised by the word "definitely", is it the product of the author, or rather some PR "creative"? ProCan't there be "probably" or "about"? Or does this website have so little self-confidence that it has to stoop to the level of a flash headline?
