Apple Music continues to grow. Server Billboard announced that the streaming service had reached another milestone, gaining 30 million subscribers. It was 27 million in June, so in three months, another 3 million users subscribed to the Apple music platform. Still, Jimmy Iovine, who Apple Music leads, thinks that what it offers Apple subscribers, not good enough yet.

"I don't believe that what is currently available is good enough," said Jimmy Iovine, who gave an interview to the server Billboard.

Jimmy Iovine thinks the service is headed in the right direction, but that all streaming services need to do much more to secure their future. "I'm convinced we're in the right place, we have the right people, and the right attitude to not be satisfied with what exists right now."

Goldman Sachs released a report in August that said streaming subscriptions will triple the global business to $41 billion by 2030. ProHowever, gnosis does not take into account competition from free platforms such as YouTube.

Jimmy Iovine suggests streaming music will become a commodity in itself. Apple Music would thus be busy with what he considers the industry's biggest challenge. "How do you put soul into streaming service subscriptions so that fans pay $10 a month instead of listening to their favorite music on free services that are also growing rapidly?"

Beats 1 creative director Zane Lowe says it’s about more than just the music. “We have to pay attention to the context and the stories around the music. The song itself is obviously the primary passion – it’s the key that opens the door. But what’s inside the room that turns a fan into a super fan? Music has sped up and there’s more to it. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t create a story around something that’s beautiful, that’s alive and breathing.”

Apple also wants to change the server method Billboard, which gives equal weight to free and paid streams when calculating streaming services' rankings. “YouTube stream is the same as your paid stream. And Spotify. This is demotivating for a musician. Musicians still believe that their money is not in recording music. That's not good."
