They will definitely be better in terms of sound, but I think that AirPods are more about the connection with the system, the ability to use just one as a hands-free, etc. I myself am a more demanding listener – I can't imagine listening to any compressed material over any wireless device in a serious way. And for the soundscape, you AirPods are really plentiful.

I'm not really interested in any kind of excellence - it's clear that everyone has different preferences :-) I've tried dozens of sound systems in my life (I recently changed my amplifier about 3 times before I found one that suited me) and headphones, but I always object to the fact that AirPods play poorly or badly :-) As I write – I have no choice but to compare and evaluate. It is also clear to me that the functions with iPhonem won't be as trouble-free with any others:-(

I'm not sure I understood the question :-) AirThere are only one Pod (as far as I know) and of course – precisely because they can connect seamlessly (by which I mean no complicated pairing and searching between BT devices) to iPhone, MacBooku, Apple Watch and you can also talk to them on the phone. Probably as it is written around - only as a sound backdrop, but in my opinion high-quality and sufficient.
When I play a record and want to really enjoy it, I also prefer to use the "meatballs" with the cable (as my kids say) - AirI don't even know how to connect :-))
I amonec stayed with jaybird x3. They play top and sit in the ear like new. A big advantage is their application where you can adjust the sound to your liking and set the equalizer over it as you like. You can make phone calls with them just like with most other wireless phones.chatek. Otherwise they play great without headphones, they just didn't fit my ear well. In my opinion they are AirPods one of the most successful products Apple Inc. over the past three decades. It must be considered as a comprehensive product and does not serve for many primarily as a standard of top-notch audio equipment. Compare AirPods with H8 are total nonsense. It is even nonsense to compare them with the aforementioned Jaybird X3… For one simple reason, AirAre Pods truly wireless? It's not about the sound quality (which, by the way, considering that these are just buds, is very good), but about the comfort and way of using the headphones themselves. I've never experienced anything like this with any headphones before, so I'm excited about them. True wirelessness, instant use, brilliant charging case. For me, the best so far Apple product.
