According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Spotify is set to introduce new video content to its app next week. The Android app will get the addition later this week, and iOS until the end of next week. Spotify has been testing the new video content with the help of a few users for the past few months. Now that all the testing is over, we, as end users, should also be able to see the new content. "We are finished testing," revealed Spotify VP Shiva Rajaraman.
In the interview, we can see that all the videos come from ESPN, Comedy Central, BBC, Vice Media and Maker Studiofrom other sources. Spotify learned a lot during testing. They discovered that there were many ways to search for individual videos, so theyonec decided to make individual “program packages.” These will be similar to Spotify’s in-house playlists like “Laughs at Lunch” or “News of the Week,” which are focused on your musical interests. This constant enrichment of apps with new features is nothing new. Apps like Snapchat, Messenger, WhatsApp are trying to do the same. In short, they cram everything possible into their applications to make it as much as possible.
