At CES, a new collection of LaCie external drives for 2016 was presented, which clearly respond to modern trends and are adapted for the new 12″ MacBook withonewhich USB-C. At the same time, they will be compatible with other future Mac computers, because everything, including konewhich Thunderbolt 3, indicates that all this year's Macs will already have the new USB-C konewhich, apparently alongside older konewhose.

The first novelty that supports USB-C with a transfer speed of up to 940 MB/s is the external SSD LaCie Chromé, whose glossy design with a mirror surface was designed by designer Neil Poulton. The disc thus continues in the footsteps of other discs with a premium design, namely Sphére (2014) and Mirror (2015). The square design, magnetic base and shiny chrome finish are meant to pay homage to the 1935 bronze sculpture by Constantin Brâncusi.

This drive consists of two 500GB SSD drives in a RAID 0 configuration, using the potential of USB 3.1 technology, which has maximal transfer speed up to 10GB/s. However, the drives are rated at 940MB/s, which means the drive can handle two hours of 4K video from GoPro camera in about a minute. The body consists of aluminum for cooling. Passive cooling was enriched with vents through which the air inside the disk changes. The drive is also compatible with standard USB konewhich; it will go on sale this quarter for $1100.
