As we informed you a few days ago, the Taiwanese company Foxconn, which is for all fans Applu, known primarily as the main source of leaks of information and photos about upcoming apple products, wants to invest several billion crowns in the Czech Republic by 2018. Yesterday, however, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka announced the exact amount that he and the company's director, Terry Gou, agreed upon after a previous meeting.
Terry Gou was told by Sobotka that he intends to invest 2,5 billion Czech crowns in the Czech Republic. He wants to give the mentioned amount primarily for a research and design center, which should be the only one of its kind in Europe. In Pardubice and Kutná Hora, where Foxconn already has its branches for the production of computers and components for telecommunications equipment, it would have the opportunity to employ thousands of people thanks to the investment and the construction of new headquarters.
But the money will also fall on data centers. In addition, the company intends to use its distribution channels from China, which should participate in the export of Czech products to Asian markets. Gou said that the investment will ensure the acceleration of the process of automation and digitization of European production, which will lead to the expansion of offers of the new technology to other companies. Foxconn already employs 5500 people in the Czech Republic, and thanks to the investment just announced, this number should increase significantly by 2018. The company has been growing steadily in recent years and in 2012 earned almost 109 billion crowns, which was four percent more than the previous year.
