Steve Jobs introduced iPhone world in 2007, but the effort to create a breakthrough in the world of telecommunications goes back to a relatively distant past. Steve first started thinking about the phone sometime in 1984, which is the year when Apple introduced the Macintosh and at the same time just before Steve left Apple and he began to plunge into the abyss of history. Steve's important friend at the time in the company was John Sculley, the former CEO of Pepsi, who stated in the latest interview that he himself had to draw a proposal for Jobs, what the Mac Ph should look likeone.
Even at that time, it was a groundbreaking device that was supposed to revolutionize the world of entrepreneurs as well as the world of households. It was a device that lay on the table similar to a regular desk phone, except that it had a display and ran a modified Macintosh system on it. Sculley was more or less forced by Jobs himself to draw a concept phone, although the device never came to fruition because Sculley was skeptical of it. He understood that the future lies in mobile phones only at the time when Apple started working on the PDA Newton, which was also Jony Ivo's first official creation.
"You can tell a genius by being 20 years ahead of his time," Sculley said “Steve was a genius, a visionary, but he couldn't draw. That's why he asked me to draw a design according to his idea." The phone itself never made it into production because there were always some complications with the prototypes. Here and there the screen had to be enlarged, other times the design had to be completely changed. However, he admits that Mac Phone would not have been the success it became iPhone, since the phone was not that groundbreaking according to Sculley.
