4K support is something that could have been expected as part of the new one, given the current times Apple TV. Well, unless you were planning to replace your current one Apple TV for a new one just to support UHD content, then you'd better think about it. As the BuzzFeed portal revealed with reference to its sources, the company Apple has no plans at all to provide 4K support for the new set-top box, despite the fact that the hardware allows it. More precisely, it will have a processor Apple A8, which is part of iPhone 6, 6 Plus and iPad Air 2 and these devices are already capable of playing 4K video without difficulty.
As stated by the source, 4K is according to Applu great stuff, but it's still not very widespread, especially since the vast majority of Americans don't have a fast enough connection to use streaming video with ultrahigh resolution. Another problem is the volume of data, which is significantly higher than Full HD, and the provision of such content is more expensive for streaming services. Owners of 4K televisions, however, from the decision Applu won't be very excited, since it's already clear that Apple in some time it will release the next generation, which will already bring support for this resolution. However, the latest one will only bring support for now App Store, Siri and should be introduced to WWDC 2015 alongside the new OS X and iOS 9.
And I won't buy another ATV because what it shows Apple with the ATV trail already, it's a mess. It doesn't really work or crashes airplay from itunes on Mac and often crashes even with iPhone/iPad. There's no point in talking about the perpetual inoperability of the Remote application. And the fact that ATV just keeps on humming while playing music, I've simply stopped taking it and bought a HTPC with Linux and now I run everything from it. I can throw ATV out the window.
I have a feeling that someone is Apple calls for the release of backward products,
so I will release a 5K iMac - it's great, but new apple tv it won't even get 4K - I'm probably fighting against my own ecosystem with this, it's literally a link for people to buy a competitor's product
I am innovating in an area where the competition has already caught up to at least most of them, and where there is a need to innovate - where people would make money again from what I want, I'm betting on it... it's really incomprehensible
And how many of you here have a device that can display 4K? Who among you has so much 4K content that the absence of this resolution on an ATV would discourage you from buying it? If someone buys a meter-long 4K TV just because it's cool now and wants to impress their neighbor, then I can probably understand a similar attitude towards ATV. However, the rule clearly applies that the higher the resolution, the larger the diagonal – or, while maintaining the diagonal, the closer you need to sit to the TV so that you can see the small details with your eyes.
A meter-long 4K TV is thus on the table instead of a monitor and not to be watched from 5 meters away in the living room. 4K resolution and higher has a price from a TV of 150 cm and more, which is a price tag of NOK 50.000 and more. So I wouldn't see it so dramatically again with the absence of 4K on the new ATV. :-)
Jarys I agree, toonesays someone who understands what this is about.
RomanWell, it's great that you have a 4K TV, but how many 4K movies have you seen on it and will you see in the next year? I assume you can count them on your fingers. I assume there are no streaming services, especially in our country, and only a few people really need to upgrade just for 4K, and I don't think you went to the store for a new TV with the idea that you already need 4K... of course, if you have some money and you don't care if you pay 2000 or 2500 for a relatively high-quality 60″ or 65″ TV. euro, so why not buy it because it will come in handy in the future. But I assume that you won't particularly complain about ATV not having 4k.

If I were to buy a TV today, it would definitely be 4K, for the reason that by the time I buy another one, 4K will already be normal or obsolete. It's something you don't buy for a year. Unfortunately, as far as the Czech Republic is concerned, 4K is still completely unnecessary for TV because none of the televisions will switch to 4K in the coming years.
See how often it comes out AppleTV. Otherwise, it is not a device for year two. That's why there should be support for 4K. Today, it's not a problem to buy a 1000K TV for 4 euros. The movie content is not, but viewing photos in 4K would be a different experience than only in FHD (of course, on a large diagonal).
Also, today cameras like GoPro they can record 4K resolution and I assume that the iP6S will also be able to record 4K as some of the android brothers already know.
Roman:
sorry, no offense, but I think you have that meter-long TV in your living room, so you don't have a problem watching from the couch.ancand enjoy 4K content properly. It's another thing to sit on the floor in front of the TV andchat For watching from a seat a few meters away, FullHD with a one-meter diagonal would be enough.
Kangaroo:
For 1000 euros, just that tiny diagonal, which is more of a monitor for the table than a TV for the living room.
saddako:
Imagine that today the common TV standard in households is FullHD, and movies on iTunes are still "only" in HD for several years.
ProI think 4K content for ATV will be a while before it becomes standard. It's a huge data stream and I can't imagine streaming it from a laptop or iPhone to ATV or stream it from the internet, when it is difficult to stream even in FullHD during peak hours.
no tiny diagonals, already for 700 euros you can get 4k samsungs 50" or lg makes 55 inches for 750 euros... I don't know who uses a 55 inch monitor :)
RomanWell, but this isn't about price at all, even if it originally cost a million, it doesn't change the fact of the ratio between the diagonal size, its resolution, and the distance of the viewer from the TV.
When you posted a photo of your living room here a while ago, it was clear that the sofa was far enough from the TV to show how big/small the TV was. It's the same as if you sat down 4 meters away from your 5K iMac, and from that distance you wouldn't be able to tell whether the photo was in 5K or "just" FullHD. ProYou won't be able to see the details from that distance, and it doesn't really matter how much the display panel cost.
I don't have to be an eye expert to know that, this is a common fact. ProThe higher the resolution, the closer you can sit to the TV or stay in place but quickly raise the diagonal.
Exactly RomanWell, it's your business and how you take my comments is also your business. ;-) Have a nice day.
I have a 51″ FHD TV at home and I sit less than 3 meters away and it still seems to me that the TV is very small and that I could probably sit closer. I can't imagine having a 4K TV smaller than at least 80″ to enjoy it. I'm actually thinking about the projector to expand it to about 2 meters and I assume that it will be completely OK even in FHD. 4K is now a spectacle or an unnecessary feature.
