UBS Research came up with a claim according to which GT Advanced already started producing sapphire glasses for iWatch in March/March. At the same time, he adds that the company has already shipped 2 kilograms of sapphire glasses to China, where they should be used in the production of the first prototypes of the iWatch. It is estimated that the number of slides that GT Advanced shipped to China, is worth approximately 1 million dollars and approximately 100 furnaces were used for their production.

It is estimated that for mass production the GT Advanced to commission an additional 400 to 500 furnaces in the first quarter of 2014 and 900 to 1000 in the second quarter, ensuring mass production of slides for iPhone 6 and iWatch. In order to confirm that Apple plans to mass-produce sapphire, the company would have to ship a total of $50 million worth of sapphires to China every month.
